Been with Bemoto for the last 3 yrs with a multibike policy for a Tiger 800 and Beta Xtrainer - £295.00 for a year and it runs out in September.
Sold the Triumph in mid May and wanted to put the policy on hold as I was going to buy another bike but I was told that that wasn't possible so the Xtrainer had to become principal bike, no refund for removing the Triumph and "we can sort it out when you buy another bike". Fast forward to today and they initially wanted to stich me up for £166.00 to add my recently bought F900XR to the Beta policy - for 3 months cover!!
After much complaining they got it down to £92.00 but that took an hour on the phone. The new rate for a multibike policy for the F900XR and Xtrainer is £440.00 and apparently its because the BMW is a new bike to me so its a higher risk as I won't be used to it?? Now if I Was going to a Hyabusa or S1000M or something I could agree with that but I've been riding bikes for 30yrs?? Sadly I doubt I'll be staying with Bemoto in September which is a shame as I like ts a UK company, UK peeps on the phone etc but 50% hike in premium against last year for similar bike, I don't think so! When I've changed Trailbikes previously there was next to no cost change.

Disappointing to hear.
I’ve been with them for some years and wanted to swop one of my bikes (Bemoto don’t charge for this) but they were unable to cover a Velocette Venom ( although they could a Viper!) no explanation why, so I probably won’t be renewing with them.

I was with Bemoto for a good few years and thought they were great but I felt they really stiffed me when I bought the GS and the following renewal process was littered with issues. I just decided to walk away.

Let down? No

it’s a free market, they offer you a product at a price, you say yes or no. It’s that simple. They owe you nothing

it is the same dance year in year out

Last year i was with Bemoto but come the renewal ( despite the bollocks about not charging more for existing customers Vs New) they tried to double the premium !

Now with Bike sure despite the conversation with Bemoto when i rang to cancel the auto renew where miraculously they managed to match Bikesure price

It was the same with Bike sure the year before that so we just go round in circles

When i swapped the Multistrada Pikes peak for the streetfighter i was with the AA who wanted to charge £1300 extra for the remainder of the policy ( about 4 months)

They are all out to make money and for that i cant blame them but a level of consistency would be good

It’s approaching that time when I have to reinsure my bikes and after a minor fiasco with Bikesure yesterday I think it’s time for a change. I quit CN a few years ago over their policy of using existing customers to subsidise new ones but that’d actually be a benefit to me this time.

I’ve no idea who’s going to come up the best price but judging by comments here and elsewhere it’s not going to be Bemoto.

That's illegal now, but they still seem to do it.

Apparently it’s also illegal to try and get someone to cancel an existing policy rather than amend it but that happened yesterday.

I accept that it’s a complex business but it’s never geared up to help the customer which is really frustrating at times.

I was with BeMoto last year, renewal time came & the premium was virtually the same as 12 months ago.
The service I've had over that time has been pretty good as well.

Just got my renewal from Bemoto, up by £200, and when I spoke with them they didn’t want to go through reviewing my policy as they knew they could get the price down as their broker Axa (I think he said) has now put a requirement on for polices to be less than 2000 miles per year or face significant uplift in premium. Shame, been with them for a good few years but forced elsewhere it seems.

I’ve been shopping around this week and going with BMW, Standard 2016 1200R Sport, 5/6000 miles a yr, pillion cover, EU cover @ £162, no frills or extras. Bikesure wanted £217 this year.

It’s really simple:

Bemoto, is the broker or intermediary

Axa, is the insurer

After the usual phone call to current insurer, Bikesure (Axa), they could only get the renewal quote down by a bout £25 from last year despite an increase in the quote of £90+ on my 22 1250GS
Tried the comparison sites and CN came tops by a long way
Checked out the terms etc, 90 days in Europe, other bikes 3rd party, pillion, protected no claims and the cover is by Aviva
£115.66 instead of £286 with Bikesure....niggly voice saying too good to be true?

Double checked everything, other than a £30 charge to change any details, all seems OK, so took it.....quick
Policy documents / Certificate came through and all appears OK

6000 miles PA, brick garage, retired, 23 yrs NCD

Yes, I am getting old, yes I do live in a semi rural location, but after years of paying near or over £200 per year it was a nice change

So who is calling the shots ?

The broker or the insurer

both

it is no different to a can of beans sold by Heinz to Tesco - insurer aka underwriter sets the wholesale price and Bemoto the broker adds their mark up. Both can vary the price based on how desperate they are for a sale.

£30-35 seems to be standard for a minute or two on a computer!!

Who is the underwriter?

I was happy with Bemoto, I was happy with insurer I had originally chosen, for whatever reason Axa I believe were no longer quoting competitively for me, I hadn't spotted the change of insurer initially, but I has seen that yet again the cost had gone up and that was largely due to an increase in the admin charge, apparently it was aligning with new business, and reflected a new quote, not a renewal. The cost was nearly a third of the whole cost. When I found I no longer had my preferred insurer and had would have been placed with an an insurer I'd previously declined, I found it time to move on from Bemoto, I could fine no middle ground. I had no need to claim from them, and I know the front end admin loading is offset by cheap mid term admin changes, but that was no consolation.

I've now gone with Principal, and so far am happy with pricing and how it has been handled, time will tell, it is not the cheapest policy I could have chosen a another broker insurance at half the price, but I feel what I have is fair, though have lost some benefits like Recovery.

Insurance due next month (5 bikes) and Bemoto have sent a renewal quote through online BUT only for my 2 classic bikes ie the Kat and the CCM , not a mention of the R1250GSA , KTM 1090 or the R1150GS . Hopefully just an oversight but the quote for the Kat is more than last year (it did less than 100 miles last year )

Think I need to ring them up
