Interested in what peeps say about gel inserts and mileage.
I've just changed to a 2008 GSA from a Yamaha FZ1 (I've seen the light!
)
In July I completed a 2,500 mile trip around France/Switzerland in 8 days. Some days we were completed upwards of 650 km (400 miles).
I had a gel insert completed before the trip and also took GOOD cycling shorts for the whole week.
It's fair to say I was in some discomfort towards the end of the week - the issue in this instance appeared to be saddle soreness rather than bruising/numb bum syndrome.
I need to experiment but my thoughts are that breathability is one of the key issues - if you're skin is a bit damp it will stick and doesn't stretch!
I have yet to have the opportunity to do any serious mileage on my 2008 GSA (standard seat at the moment) but my thoughts are initially going towards the airhawk.
