OK, as in the title folks - \

how have all of you spent your hard earned dosh - and which ones have given you the best return for your money :)

R.

Slightly of topic but are you the Benhur who has an1TX?

I think I am in that I also have an FJR1300 and have been active for a number of years on the FJR forum...I was also instrumental in the rebirth and new life of a 1TX restored by Richie? is that the 1tx you are referring to??

And mike o's cockpit trim
And hid50 light conversions
And verns worldbeaters
And the Migsel satnav mount
And the wunderlich rear seat carrier
And the rugged roads bits and pieces
And so on

Because I had the bits in the garage, I changed the ridiculous standard GS handlebars to a pair of Fat bar Maguras from a KTM with risers etc.

Transforms the feel and comfort of the bike, next best mod is suspension and unusually the GS benefits most from a decent ie. Ohlins rear shock

Forget about any bling for the bike....unlike mine which even has a carbon fibre beak and clock screen:blast

+1 for the Migsel Satnav mount.
A 'stubby' exhaust; weighs nothing, runs much better than with a standard can and hardly any louder. Gives better mid-range and allows the fitment of a full size ally pannier on that side if you wish.
(and I've got an Ohlins waiting to be serviced and fitted to the rear)

Mine has an Ohlin on the rear, Sargent seats front and rear, adventure screen and tobinators, stubby exhaust and Hids in the garage waiting to be fitted.

Hyperpro shocks
Adv tank & screen
R1100R front wheel
R1100S 5.5" rear wheel
HID dipped beam
K1200 mirrors
Powercommander and 3.5 bar FPR
R1200 fuel injectors

I've done other mods but most were just for experimentation's sake and didn't do anything to change the bike; ie Rockster wishbone

Been searching on/off the past 5-6years for decent handlebars. Possible to get a few pictures/model number of the maguras Tim?
Do the clutch and brake lines need to be replaced/longer?
Do they reduce vibes?

I currently have muffs fitted for winter so a doubt I'll get a decent photo sorry.

No need to change any lines or cables.

Use a fat bar conversion with rox risers, dump the bar weights (if your 1150 vibrates then there's something wrong with it). But you can always fill the bars with silicone.
IMO unless you find a fixed riser that suits you the rox allows infinite adjustment.

Bit the bullet and rip the BMW grips out, a set of 2 stage hot grips cost £40 and are better than oem.
With a bit of tinkering Ktm hanguards will fit as well.

I've have 1150s for 18 years and ride a bike almost every day of my life so was trying work out why I could never be as comfortable on my GS as on a big Ktm, it's the bars apart from being too wide, wrong bend for wrists they also look rediculous ;)

How about the understated comfort of PivotPegz?

Funnily enough I have them on two ktms but use fastway on the 1150 as never felt the need.

It all go's to show that it's always best to experiment with your own bike rather than sim0ly copy other people's ideas :)
