Or use the free motorbike lane, usually to the far right or left hand side...
I've only seen those on bridges such as Tancarville or Pont de Normandie

Does it actually work with a caxton card? I'd be very surprised if it did. Caxton and other prepaid currency cards very frequently don't work at tolls and Caxton recommend you don't use them for autoroute tolls.Jeez this subject been done to death.
To save yourself all the dramas get one of the toll dooferaters from here http://www.telepeagepourtous.fr/fr/particulier/toutes_nos_offres/formule_balade if you use google chrome it will translate the page.
Link it to your pre paid Euro debit card (Caxton / Fair FX etc ) to pay the tolls.
The cost will be €10 for the dooferater including postage to a UK address, plus €1-60 for e statements for any month that you have used the toll road plus whatever the toll charge is (you can check your toll charges on line). Order online and the dooferater will be with you within 14 days. Simple.
Last month when I used it I stopped at the ticket machine waited a few seconds, green light came on and the barrier lifted.
Magic
Phil.
And everytime it got the class 5 right.

What happens if you use the badge and there's no money in your account?
Motorcycles are now illegal on French motorways, as they create queues of irate Frenchmen whilst hapless riders contact the operators seeking activation of the ticket machines. They have also been banned from ALL petrol stations as the card readers will not work, especially on Sundays. Under EU legislation, this ban will be extended to ALL member states by June 2015.
For historic data on the relative costs: https://www.saneftolling.co.uk/support/toll_rates
Still can't work it out as it's in foreign? OK: http://www.autoroutes.fr/FCKeditor/UserFiles/File/Tarifs 2014(3).pdf
There's a helpful picture of a motorbike on the top of the relevant column and pictures of other vehicles, too. Do you recognise them all? It's a fun game to spot them all as you ride along![]()

(smiley just for wapping, ISTRC he likes threads with smileys so much)Well, rather than speculate, I've just ordered on with my Caxton card (you can, but it takes a bit of hunting aound to be able to pay with a card rather than by direct debit). But surely he's not using the Caxton card at the toll...thats the whole point...he's using the 'dooferator'...the Caxton card is being used to settle the subsequent 'dooferator' account...or am I missing something?? What happens if there is no money is the same as what happens if you pay your electric/gasetcetc through your cc and there are insufficient funds?? I'm not sure you CAN link a prepaid card to pay a/c's, but it would seem he has?
Question 1: Can you use the same " t-reader" for both the car and the bike or do you need one for each.
Yes the same badge can be used on any car / bike you are onn.
Question 2: I see from the site that there is a holder to mount on the windscreen in the car what way or where do you mount it on the bike.
You will get 2 sticky back holders with the badge but you can order more if you wish. On the bike I put the badge in the map pocket on the tank bag.
Question 3: is it powered by rechargeable batteries?
It seems to be a sealed unit but the website states that the battery will last up to 5 years, if the badge doesn't work there is a bar code number on the back, just use the help button on the ticket machine tell them what has happened and quote the number to pay the toll.

And if not?I used the Caxton pre paid card to pay the balance of the account, you go into the client area of the site when you have registered the badge where you can check a few days later how much you have been charged for any tolls you go through, if it's the wrong class use google translate to write an email to inform them of the error and it will be rectified.
At the end of the month they will bill you the amount for the tolls and tell you when they will be debiting your pre paid account just ensure you have sufficient funds on the card.
Hope this helps.
Phil.

That's a relief - I thought there might be serious consequenciesThey will send some Legion hitmen to hunt you down.![]()
There is a little known thing known as cash.
It comes in the form of handily sized pieces of paper and disc shaped metal tokens.
Combinations of these can purchase most things, usually including tolls.
Or use the free motorbike lane, usually to the far right or left hand side...
