Has anyone taken the 1300 to a tuner for a flash / remap?
Do you feel the expense was worth the result?

I've had a previous bike flashed at BHP with good results, improving on low down rpm fueling and rideability.

Not actually after more power just smoothing the fueling out.

Not interested in any opinion's on warranty related stuff.

Looking at the list of electronic faults posted by a 2023 owner on here today I would be nervous about any third party electronic wizardry intervention on a 1300

Well i have ordered there remap/flash

Certain bikes can be jerkier than ideal to pass emission tests etc that the manufacturer can't get around.

We "shouldn't" still be here, in this day and age with fuel injection, but we are.

Even more so with some ride by wire throttles. With even the slightest minuscule jerk of the twist grip making a zero a one in the ecu, and unwanted fuel shot into the engine.

Bring back CV carbs I say, Trump could sort it.

What is wrong with your bikes fuelling that needs fixing by somebody other than the company that actually built it ?

Serious question.
All modern bikes suffer from poor fueling in certain areas of the rev range due to lean fueling to meet emission regulations, this is usually in the lower 1/3rd of the rev range where the testing is done at both static & cruising in a given rev range, this in turn affects rideability of the bike causing jerky throttle response and poor acceleration in that area of the rev range, on the 1200 & 1250 BMW it is particularly noticable when taking roundabouts or corners where you're off the throttle and then when opening the throttle it can be quite a jerky/abrupt initial response. Once they are mapped to give far better fueling it really does improve ridability of the bike.

The fuelling on my ‘19 GSA is probably the best fuel injected bike I’ve owned, it’s certainly the best BMW I’ve owned. That’s why I asked the question.

(If only it didn’t clatter like a bag of spanners. )

My 2020 GS was similar. Having had 2 1200s before, the latter being a 2018 that I took to the place that shall not be mentioned I quickly concluded the fuelling on the 1250 needed nothing doing to it at all which is also the case with my 2023 RS.

Have you replaced the cam chain tensioner for the uprated one on the left hand cylinder head? that removes all the nearside cam chain clatter, 10 minute job to change it. BMW part No. 11317108586

In all honesty all my BMWs have had excellent fuelling. Lumpy? Try a gen 1 KTM 1290gt or a 1200 multistrada, flat spots? An Fz1s circa 2007.
Im not saying there is no possibility of a slight (very slight) improvement, but I am convinced it is not required. Probably the best out of the crate fuelling bikes I have had and certainly never been an issue that requires attention.

I did that early doors, made little difference if any.

These engines are inherently rattly.

Bear in mind that if you dont remove the map before a dealer update you can loose the map. The next stage if you forget is a new map and thats not free and you will be charged , not sure how much.

I have the unit to remove the map and replace with standard before a service. :)
