Taking delivery of my 2014 te next week and already making plans for some tweaking.

Just what improvements has anyone on here made with engine tuning and suspension/wheel mods? results?

Came hear via a strange route of riding a heavily modified 1150 gsa a few years back which I found oddly engaging, and recently owned fz1s, gsxr1000, mts 1200 and s1r. Please save the 'should have bought something else' rubbish, looking for feedback from people who have actually spent money on performance improvements and not lectures about my bike choice.;)

Cheers skid06.

Its on the radar.
Got bored going through 'certain threads' about that topic and all the time wasted reading tossers replies. Got to take notice of people who have spent cash though.

With a bit luck can keep this on topic.

Apart from Hilltop and decat headers the next performance part is a pair of PR4s, then you can play with screens and seats etc.
Leave the wheels alone as they go round fast enough anyway. Suspension is pretty good as it is.

This months BMW Riders Journal had a Motorrad test carried out on various after market exhausts on LC Boxer Twins.

The Standard BMW System came out on top...but only by a very slim margin.

1. BMW Original = .....Power 121ps .......Torque 118Nm
2. Akrapovic - Titanium = .....P.120ps ..........T.116Nm
3. BOS Desert Fox - Stainless = .....P.120ps ........T.116Nm
4. Sebring Phantom - Stainless = ..... P.120ps ........T.116Nm
5. Zard Penta Style - Carbon = ..... P.120ps ........T.116Nm

So, if the above results are anything to go by, you might be best spending your hard earned cash at Hilltop garage which should definitely give you more bang for your buck! :augie

I have the Hilltop re-map and a set of Mivv De-Cat headers, but retained the original end can.
From my experience, the performance gained per £ spent is excellent value...!!

De-cat headers are these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-R-120...421972?hash=item5d5d9b5ed4:g:RsEAAOSwKIpWCPNt

If the link doesn't work have a look on eBay for Mivv exhaust.

Hi

These look good value but a couple of questions:

1. What's the horizontal metal probe for at the rear end?

2. There's also a "metal basket" below - does that have a purpose?

3. What's the quality of the welding like at the front end? Can you get it shiny?

Thanks

Power Torque

The horizontal tube is a locating and support tube for the underside of the engine which mimics the original headers. Its just set further back on these.
The basket bit you refer to is actually a couple of slots for the exhaust flap control cables. Yuo have the option to retain the cables and connect them to this bracket.
I opted to remove the cables altogether.
With regards to the quality of the welds, well mine are covered in crud at the moment. I've only had them a couple of weeks and havent washed the bike yet...
I would imagine they're not as classy as the Remus or Akra headers, but then that is why they are so much more...
The sound is bassier but not that mouch louder, but the midrange pickup is definitely better.

All in, i,m quite pleased.

Good price for headers that. Will speak to Hilltop in due course about keeping or binning the OE downpipes. Inclined to go for torque over bhp.

Preaching to the converted with Michelin tyres....;)

All I have done to my two LC's and one Adventure is hilltop and use Shell Vpower fuel. GSA is as smooth as any 4 cylinder bike I have ridden and is a joy to ride in the wet with good fuelling low down.

Just to be clear I don't have three bikes but have had three since launch!!

If you tune the bike you will lose the sexy pops on fast up-changes and burbles on the overrun.

So no one is running a power commander then?

Seems not, seen superb gains on inline 4s with PC and exhaust system set up on a dyno. Might not get same gains on a twin....should be good for torque though. Hilltop looks better value for money. PC only worthwhile if set up properly and its visually obvious from a warranty perspective that tuning has taken place.
