I've recently bought an 1150 GS
, which i picked instead of a GSA (mostly due to budget but actually thought the bike was better suited to road riding with the 6th gear, etc). The only thing i realy wanted from the GSA was the bigger tank, which leads me on nicely to my first question- Have any of you ever put a larger tank on a standard GS? And if so, how much did it cost you. I've seen on the Touratech website a 42 litre tank selling for a massive £850, thats before fitting and having it sprayed. I would expect ordering a GSA tank through BMW would'nt be any cheaper.
Question 2- I picked the standard GS because i cover a huge amount of road miles. Two weeks in however and the GS is bringing out my more adventurous side and i'm dying to throw on some off road tyres and take it up to Dartmoor. Does any one know the rules around Dartmoor regarding this and is there any other like minded riders who meet up for an off road ride out?
All in all though i'm realy pleased so far- I finally like my commute, which takes about 30 minutes less and feel the big beemer is far superior to my last bike, which was a CBR, and i thought that was good!
