On a trip down to Wales a few weeks ago, after a long motorway journey, i got held up a bit in traffic, this seemed to causde the bike to overheat and the bike cut out about 15 times (on the move). when i eventually got to my destination i noticed the fan was well clogged up so got it freed up enough for it to work. When i got back the fan was replaced within warantee and i thought the problem was solved.
Then Sunday, on my way from SE London to Gatwick airport in 30 degree heat after riding for about 30 mins the bike did the same thing, cut out twice. After letting it cool for about 2 hours on the trip back it was fine till again about 30mins into the ride, it cut out 24 times, on the motorway with SWMBO on the back (i love danger but that is a bit much). Eventually managed to creep home and got it sent back to the deallers
Verdict was that the electronic part controlling the fuel pump had to be replaced as there were so many errors when checked on BMW diagnostics machine.
Lets hope this is the end of the issues i am having as Africa seems to have a slightly hotter climate than what my bike is currently used to
