Bike wobbles when accelerating

I noticed something new today on my GS, when accelerating hard in 1st and 2nd gear I feel the bike kind of wobbling sideways. Same kind of sideways movement as when shifting up a gear. I'm guessing that if the clutch is slipping it would feel like this, but I'm not shure. It's not the engine/fueling I'm quite shure of that. Anyone else had the same problem? How long does the clutch last normally? I don't abuse it, the bike has 17000km on the clock. I can't feel any play in the final drive. Is it possible that oil has leaked onto the clutch?

If the clutch was slipping, I think you'd notice it in other ways to wobbling. Plus, clutch slip tends to manifest itself earliest in the higher gears.

I've noticed a momentary and slight "waggling" of the handlebars when using full throttle in the lower gears, especially when changing gears. I put this down to reduced loading on the front wheel. It's never developed into a real wobble, so I don't worry about it.

Robin.

It's not a wobble through the handlebars, it's more like the whole bike is shaking, as if the clutch was gripping, then slipping etc, each turn of the engine.

Sounds like front wheel "shimmy" due to unloading front and increased loading to the rear. I do not think you have a problem unless it happens at anything less than full throttle. :chewstick

Your rear tire is probably slightly out of round.

Put it on the center stand and let it idle in 3rd gear and you'll know immediately.

Run a wrench across the spokes, too, and listen for a radically different pitch from any of them--if you find that, I'd let a professional mess with it.

Try accelerating less hard, or shift your weight forwards over the bars more. Long travel soft suspension on a GS causes the rear to squat and the front to lift, leading to looser steering under acceleration as the contact patch loses grip.

I'm pretty shure now that it is the rear tire that "drives" this oscillation. It's only there at around 40-50 kmph, at higher speed it is as stable as ever. The fact that I haven't noticed this before is probably beacause I have an Anakee at the rear now (front too), before it was Trailwing and Tourance. The tire is far from worn out and it still has a pretty good round profile. Maybe it is an Anakee "feature", maybe it is just a bad tire. Anyway, I try just to ignore it from now.

Does it wobble a little if you take both hands off? If so, is it hardly there when you do the same at higher speeds, say, over 80mph?

If so, I'd look to the front tyre and check generally shot rubber or uneven wear or, possibly, wheel balancing.

No wobbles at higher speed, or at a steady low speed. That´s why I suspect the rear tire.
