Before I do anything else I must on behalf of all the Tossers who turned up today and myself offer our grateful thanks to the men of the PSNI and An Garda Síochána for their time and effort today. Thanks lads. :clap:clap:clap :bow:bow:bow

Also to Kenny and his staff at Hein Gericke Newry for hosting the event and supplying sandwiches and refreshments. Thanks fellas. :clap:clap:clap :thumb2

And of course my wife Mandy for making apple tarts etc and for all her help and support. :kissy2 :rose

Now, on to business.............................................

I didn't get the final tally from Bill before I left HG this evening but just over 30 riders took an assessed ride out today.

Only 3 riders returned with perfect marks and they are
;

Room101 -- Sue

Leprechaun -- Frank

Dibbles -- Maurice

Well done to the three of you. A perfect score is not easily achieved and is quite an acomplishment. :clap:clap:clap :clap:clap:clap

At the very end of the day there was a draw made for prizes for the riders who had taken part.

The winners were drawn from the hat by Kevin from the Gardaí.

First prize was a gift voucher donated by the PSNI (£150) and the District Policing Partnership (£150) which would give the winner £300 to spend at Hein Gericke Newry.

There were only three names in this draw, the three riders who had achieved the top score and the name drawn from the hat was Maurice (Dibbles). Well done Maurice. :thumb2

The second prize, sponsored by HG Newry was a jacket to the value of £180. The winner, again drawn by Kevin was Padge. :thumb2

Ravensdale100 (Peadar) won the third prize, a pair of gloves donated again by HG Newry. :thumb2

Jockser, Ogmios and RT Ron also won SmartWater bike security systems donated by the PSNI.

The two local papers turned up and took lots of pictures and Bill even arranged for BBC NI to come and do a piece on the event. Please make every effort to keep your children away from the tele this week as R2D2 and myself could well be on screen. :yikes :yikes

Thanks to all of you who turned up today. It is you who make these events a success and I really appreciate the effort you all make.

Thanks for a great day...enjoyed the spin around the coast and over the hills............great to meet you all......goin to the pub now:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:....steve

And finally................................

I wasn't going to post this picture, then I thought what the hell. What's the worst he can do?

Sorry officer.

Just to echo Aidan's appreciation for the Gardai and PSNI guys who were brilliant, very professional and I reckon most people came away with something to think about. Also thanks to Aidan and Mandy for their organisation and to Kenny in Hein Gericke for his hospitality. Great day out :thumb

Looked like a great day out :thumb

Thank you so much Aidan and all those involved in organising such a useful and enjoyable event...:aidan

There's just nothing better than a spot of 'progressive' riding with the peelers on your tail...:augie:thumb It took me a good while to wipe the grin off my face, I thoroughly enjoyed myself... even though I was shaking like a leaf before I went out for the assesment...:o

Well done to everyone that took part, and Frank and Maurice for achieving top marks... must say I'm a bit embarressed, as its days like yesterday that remind me just how much I LOVE riding my GS...:clap:clap:clap

Seconded :clap :clap A decent bunch of guys who were happy to answer questions & impart their knowledge as well as watch 30 odd tossers flying around the local roads & give a blow-by-blow analysis of the good and bad points of everyones riding.

Thanks also to Kenny & his lads for everything, Mandy for the weather, the tart & a feed before myself & R2D2 headed back south but especially to Aidan for taking the time & trouble to arrange the whole day & round it off with a spin around the coast & up to Spelga Dam. He even found me a muddy track to christen the new bike :beerjug:

Gettin' there - 450km in one day is a good start ;) Good to meet ya & fair play for comin' all the way from Galway for the assessment :aidan

thanks to Aidan and everybody else who gave up their time and made yesterday a great day. Special thanks to the officer who had enough of a sense of humour to observe my riding:thumb2

Can only say it again . Many thanks for the whole day . The tart was great ,the weather ,and to Room 101 for keeping stum about doing so well ,even after i asked you . Was great show and great that so many took the time to show up and make it a cracking day . See you all around the next bend .
Geno .

thanks to aidan and mandy, the psni and kevin and the gang from the Dublin traffic corps. it really was a super day. It was hilarious to see all the drivers cut back on the speed outside the hein gericke store in newry, due to a concentration of hi-viz bikes and jackets. even funnier to see all the bikers arriving at the store who didn't know what was going on looking at a Gardai bike and a real life-size kitted out Garda biker in Newry. the roads around newry and the tangradee road, were superb. Sorry I couldn't join in the spin to christen jockers new bike. Hope you all got home safe and maybe see some of you in November for a day spin, in the wet and wind, not the mediterranean conditions of this weekend. :Motomartin

and I would like to point out to everyone just how wonderful and caring a guy Bill Holden is :augie

great day thanks Aiden, thanks also to mandy for the way she looked after us, shame they picked the ugly one to be broadcast on this evenings news;);):aidan
:hide
the spin up to the dam etc was very enjoyable, especially watching Aidan terrorise some poor bloke in a Mondeo !!

Thanks Aidan - another great day out!

I had the misfortune of going out for my assessment straight after Room101.

Everytime we stopped for a chat with our assessor he'd just say "yeah yeah, youse are ok, but you should have seen the girl before you - she was amazing!"

Then he would come over all misty eyed and stare into the distance while we looked at the ground and shuffled our feet.

Well done Sue (and Frank and Maurice)
