Blackbird???

I will ask if he wants to part with it. His wife has just had a baby and considering he used the bike once in four years before the birth .....

My mate has one for sale having just bought a bike off this site, its a blue one 2001 on a W and having just bought a replacement it maybe a reasonable price :augie pm if interested and i will give you his details.
I was also supprised ref insurance but put a Busa on and it doubled :blast

Cheers gents :thumb2

I've got two to go and see on Saturday and I may be able to do a deal. If not I'll have to see about putting the Varadero on Biketrader and see if it sells. Better to have cash in my pockets before bothering a potential private seller.

Back again!

I rode over to Midlands Superbikes at Market Harborough today. They did have two Blackbirds on their website but when I phoned yesterday they had already sold. But, they were expecting a part-ex in today which I was welcome to take out.

1999 on an 'S' with 20k miles, full set of Givi luggage. Only down side was that it was red in colour but I was assured it was in excellent condition.

I found the place easily enough, just had to follow all the bikes as it was heaving! Mostly with sports bike riders but a smattering of Harley Bro's too. The showroom is a large-ish industrial unit and inside it is jam packed with all sorts of bikes. With all the people there it was next to impossible to look around so I was lucky that the Blackbird was parked up outside.

So what did I think? Well, I was disappointed really. There was a lot more wear and tear than I expected to see, the front mudguard had a chunk out of the paint and the fork lowers were showing their age too. Worse the previous owner had decided to polish the wheel rims and the spokes were gold - yuk!!! On the plus side the luggage wasn't too battered, though a few scratches, and it had a double bubble screen.

Anyway I tried to have a chat with the one salesman I could see but I couldn't get anywhere near him to let him know that I was no longer interested in the bike. Sorry mate :nenau

A quick route home in the Zumo and fitted the airhawk and I was off. Found some nice little back lanes as Leicestershire turned into Rutland :thumb2

Have to keep my eyes open a bit longer :augie

Keep looking as there will be 1 out there for you.

I mentioned earlier in this thread that I purchased a blackbird over Xmas. Well, I've just had the first service done and now have 800 miles on the clock. So far, I'm loving the bike - its awesome.

At the moment my 1150 GSA is not getting a look in.

Keep looking - can't wait to see what you think when your finally out there are your Blackbird.

Cheers, Dean.

Twotter still after a Blackbird ?

I've just joined the forum and noticed the thread about Twotter wanting a Blackbird. I have a black 98 bike which is pretty clean, 31k, and it was the Varadero comments that really caught my attention. I can't figure out how to pm on this site and no doubt email addresses would be edited out by the administrator, but I would be interested in talking about a possible Vara/BBird deal, if you can manage to pm me or email to [email protected]:)

Right, after far too much faffing about I've now sold the Varadero and have been looking for a Blackbird. Thanks to Wapping and ChasMill for the info on their mate's bike but I've been to see a 2003 FI model today and I pick it up next Monday :D

23k miles, bar-risers, heated grips, crash bungs, datatool alarm, smartwater, mirror extenders, fender extender, hugger, scottoiler and FSH.

Blimey..

.. that one took a while to conclude.. :)

But good news you've found the steed you want!

Good luck with it :thumb Warp 9, Aye captain, think the horizon will be getting just that little bit closer..

Awesome, your going to love it. Be sure to let us know how you get on with it.

As you know, I have a blackbird and an 1150 GSA - well, I sold the GSA only yesterday. Only 1 bike in the garage now.

Cheers, Dean.

Picked it up on Saturday then rode down to my brother's place for the weekend.

I took it very carefully at first but it is so composed on the road that I felt at home with it very quickly.

The riding position is very different to what I'm used to after so many miles riding the Varadero and before that my old R1150GS, but it's a lot more comfortable than I was expecting. Partly that is because the seating position tilts me forward keeping my weight off my coccyx, and partly because I can rest my manly physique (as in stomach) on the tank!

I was taking it very easy on the roads but still enjoyed the ride. Accelerating out of roundabouts in 3rd gear is particularly good fun ;) For most situations I could leave it in 6th gear and just twist the throttle when required. Nearing home I filled up and put in 18 litres for 170 miles. With a tank capacity of 23 litres I would expect to do a good 200 miles in 'bimble' mode.

Weather protection was good but the stock windscreen is too low so I'll probably opt to replace it with a MRA Vario screen. Other than that a tank protector and a Telferizer GPS mounting bolt should see me sorted :thumb

Happy with it so far :D

Whoops, I've bust it :tears

Only had it a week and the Jaws telephone diagnosis is an injector problem so back it goes to the dealer for some TLC.

Unreliable old junk :augie

All happy again. Had the loom fix mod done, replaced the standard cans with a pair of road legal Microns and I'm sorted :thumb2

Every ride on the Bird leaves me grinning like an idiot for days :D

i had a 2001 model blackbird,
loved every ride on it ............:bow:bow:bow:bow
stunning machines ;)

Bloody hell I wish people would put warnings on ressurected threads :eek

Got halfway through and ran into a post by Motorhead before I realised the date on the OP :(
