Its just a bike, with your track record give it up and try a different make.
On my usual weekend runs out the GS is good, but I can see in my mirrors half a dozen other makes riding the same roads at the same speeds with no difficulty at all.
My bike, £11500 as a base model, couple of friends who are probably above average ability on V Strom 650s easily keep up with me, total spend less than £4000 each. They enjoy the ride just as much as I do, and have no reliability issues.
Conclusion, its not the bike but the company, the riding, the atmosphere, the friendship, the scenery. Wish I had realised this before spending so much.
My GS has been 100% reliable apart from the corrosion on the L/H cylinder head. I'm tied to the bike because of is value, however if I had your bike problems I would not hesitate to move to a different maker.

Serious question, how old are you Sooty? You're sounding old man. 60? Ok i realise that is positively spritely for on here.

the "cheaper bikes can keep up with my expensive bike , so my bike is useless" argument , I think , doesn't really work.

the fact that a "cheaper" bike can keep up with your "expensive" bike is only one VERY small part of the ownership and riding experience.

imho , if you feel so strongly that you "over-bought" , by all means sell it and cut your losses.

There is no way on gods earth that a vstirm would keep up with an LC , I know as I ride with Multisttradas , T ruiphs. And all manner of different types , they all say the same , fnck me that BM is blood fast and smooth.
The only thing I would agree with is the company is great ......

You're more patient than I am; if mine had that many issues, I'd jump ship.

But there would be no ship to jump to .... KTM off road only , Gas Gas tricky stuff , Yam, Suz ,Kaw, (Guzzi interesting but not my cup of tea) boring and soulless apart from that there are no other choices , I know have tried them all.
Lots of issues but its still a great bike and nothing comes close for me , I would rather give up road riding that change........

Multistrada? S1000F? You'll be out of the frying pan, into the fryer with a KTM.:P

It strikes me that you have given up a lot of road riding while repairs were being done.;)

HaHa..... Just for the record, I haven't had to have my KTM replaced because of bad build/alignment/gearbox/corrosion/imploding engines etc etc etc. :P. And as for the OP, maybe he should change his name to 'Stuck'. :D
