Own a 1200gs, 13000 miles on the clock and owned it for about 6 months. ( second hand ). When i purchased it i noticed a rattle coming from the left hand side of the engine. I spoke to BMW about it and one of their mechanics took it out and said no probs mine sounds like that!
I had it serviced about five weeks ago, all the bits done, gaps checked etc etc, as i pointed out it sounded quite tappety. Why is it still bloody rattling????:spitfire:spitfire:spitfireYou can hear it ticking when your motoring along, but if you take the load off the engine it is more pronouced. Its getting on my tits:thedummy I have ridden other boxers and none sound like that. Is it me?????? , or is there something more that may be up with the engine. There is no power loss, but i'm concerned that it could be the start of something.
any ideas:nenau:nenau

Mine is just 3 months old and 2k on the clock - I rode it for the first time without ear plugs today and heard the exact same rattle - more a tapping that sounded louder on the over-run. It sounds like the injectors. I was going to mention it at the next service.

Hi
My 56 plate with 12000 on clock sounds like a talbot Alpine
But as i was stupid enough to buy a Tourx Helmet the wind and Tinitus means i can no longer hear it :thumb2:thumb2:beer:

In neutral, pull the clutch lever in. If the noise stops, its gearshaft endfloat which is perfectly normal. If it continues however, get the rocker endfloat and valve clearances spot on and balance your throttles. If it still presists after that, I'd suspect your camchain tensioner may be playing up.
