Latest missive from BMW:
"I can advise that an Australian Warranty is a very different policy offering, however if an Australian owner were to have a warranty claim here in the UK, they would need to pay the UK dealer who completed the work and then try to claim back the costs from BMW Australia.
I can confrim that a BMW extended warranty purchased from an EU country is only valid in the country of purchase, in most cases the vehicle will need to be permanently based in that country.
If you were to purchase a warranty from a French dealer for instance and require any work to be completed by a UK dealer, you would need to pay the UK dealer and then claim the costs from the French dealer that you have purchased the warranty from.
The above will apply to a UK extended warranty for instance if you were to have a warranty claim while on holiday in France, you would need to pay the French dealer for the repairs and then arrange for a UK dealer to process a claim for you, once the claim is accepted the dealer will then arrange for a refund of the charges incurred.
I hope the above example is of assistance to you and your fellow riders.
Yours sincerely,
Jean-Paul Keetch."
