BMW GSW ADVENTURE PRESS LAUNCH

I see your point.

I thought in the early days that the poor gear changes may have had something to do with the speed the revs drop causing a larger mismatch between engine and gear box revs.

If the extra mass helps with the gear change then I am all for it.

Well I like the engine characteristics of the Standard LC engine.

I hope that the extra weight of the fly wheel does not destroy that nice free revving engine. Because the engine is the best yet by a long way.

The only thing I want to see is a massive improvement in the gear change department.

I thought the LC engine on the one I test rode was a bit too peaky for this style of bike, preferring my TC motor lugability and useability. I hope the Adv motor has more shove but a similar feel, having had the 1150GS and the 12RT/12GS, it's what I am used to.

If i had the money i'd be signing up ASAP for one...:thumb2

I'm not saying it will for sure but it very well could help.

I agree. The engine feels awesome as far as power but almost feels like it belongs in an "S" bike, or maybe a new R1200RS? I think BMW feels GS's are basically ridden as street bikes which explains the close ratio transmission.

Very nice but I will be waiting for a 2015 Triple Black one seen as my TC is only 2 year old ;)

And no decision made until I've had a test ride too :thumb2

I may have missed this info but does anyone know if the new GSA will be at the NEC bike show? I'm looking for my annual excuse to go!

Yep, and if you can't wait til then, it'll also be at Eicma in Milan.

Black GSA...

Amongst the promotional pics of the new GSA I'm sure there is a black one?! It's the one in front of the orange tent. Or is it just a trick of the light?

I tried to add the pic on here but it seemed to a bit of a long-winded process, unless anyone can advise me. Anyway, I'm sure you'll be able to find the one I'm talking about as it's on the BMW Motorrad site.

If they added a black one to their range, I'm sure it would be a big seller.

They won't release a black one at launch. They will wait at least a year, so the people that can't wait will buy the launch model, then trade it in when the right colour comes out.:rob Don't ask me how I know that.:blast:comfort:D

I've just had a closer look at the one I referred to and can now see that it's the olive one. It sort of looks black and, black, in my eyes, suits it.

I know you are right about the colours Nutty and as you say, we'll probably see a black one in the fullness of time...

I don't particularly like any of the launch colours, so my plan is to get (probably) a white one and just get the coloured panels wrapped, black or dark grey.

Cheers

I'm sure it's a great bike but as superficial as it is I cannot see past those horrible engine bars which remind me of the kind of device fitted at the entrance of a footpath to stop motorcycles getting through!

Just been down to Vines and placed a deposit on one ... :nenau

only time will tell if it was a good move or not ... It is my first bike!

Today have taken the plunge and ordered one.

Camo green for me but without the red R1200 lettering...

:aidan

Yeah I only rang up to buy clocks...

Talking to dealers is downright dangerous ;)

And when did need ever come into it?

I'll be putting a deposit down soon, but will need to see them in the flesh in order to make the decision on colour. Swinging towards olive at the moment, but will also check out the white one. Someone mentioned earlier, that it wouldn't be difficult to apply wraps to the very few coloured parts of the bike - it would look good in black!
