Just 3 days before going to a trip to Italy, my 1200 GS had a little problem, the rear brake servo occasionally and randomly failed, leaving the residual breaking. Restarting the engine solved the problem for some time until the next failure.
I went to BMW in Plymouth which is 40 miles away and took them only 20 minutes to tell me that "Yes! it failed", but nothing specific, just a general failure.
They gave me an apointment for October 4th, nearly a month later !!!
Anyway I went to Italy without fixing the problem. At some point the speedometer failed as well, (that's why I got a couple of french speed trap flashing at me. Do they deliver the tickets to England?). I was a bit concerned expecting some sort of catastrophic electronic failure, which didn't happened.
In Milan I went to the BMW dealer, which fixed me an apointment for the day after when they put a new ABS sensor to fix both problems in less than 1 hour under warranty.
