Is it bike speed or engine revsNo they are the metzer tourance 2 tyres. The vibration happens at certain engine speeds.
Where is the technical section as this is the general 1300 forum ?Unnecessary in the technical section
So its related to engine revs and load.Is it bike speed or engine revs
might be because you are a non subscriberAlso i would upload a picture, but i can’t workout how to upload from my phone. Can only seem to be able to attach links.
What you are describing there -especially the propensity for the `rattle` to be provoked when the engine is loaded or under acceleration - are very similar symptoms to what has been discussed at length in this thread on the 1250`s.So its related to engine revs and load.
If i rev the engine when the bike is stationary it doesn’t rattle.
If i ride in any gear at any speed, just coasting , it doesn’t rattle.
If i pull the clutch in at any speed and just freewheel, rev the engine up and down, it doesn’t rattle.
As soon as i accelerate, it rattles, it more noticeabe at lower speeds, probably because there is no wind noise.
The best thing i can say is at least the earplugs filter the noise out.
Its a big shame though. It would be nice to be able to ride the bike on short lower speeds rides without earplugs.
What fuel are you putting in it? I use Tesco's super unleaded in my 1250 (RS)So its related to engine revs and load.

Worth a try.If it is load related, I would stick some 98 octane in it...
That thread does describe pretty closely what im experiencing. What you are describing there -especially the propensity for the `rattle` to be provoked when the engine is loaded or under acceleration - are very similar symptoms to what has been discussed at length in this thread on the 1250`s.
Sounds like pinking.
Yep, i can deffo hear the noise - it`s most pronounced in the first couple of seconds of the vid. That`s pinking. This is exactly it, there are various YouTube videos about this ive just found.
Why the F would an extremely rare problem with one bike out of tens of thousands elicit such ridiculous response.Yep, i can deffo hear the noise - it`s most pronounced in the first couple of seconds of the vid. That`s pinking.
Why the F can`t BMW make an engine that doesn`t pink? You would of thought that with all the technology available these days this sort of irritation was long gone. I thought that kinda` problem ended decades ago..
