For Sale BMW R90S in Silver smoke for sale

Sold my R100RT on Car and Classic. Priced according to the market at the time. Only bike I made some cash on and used it for free one year.
Some examples of 90S...

I have a fully restored, beautiful Daytona Orange R90S that I have, on and off, considered selling. It's got non matching numbers which obviously drops the value but it's all R90S, just a later, stronger set of crankcases and everything has been gone through properly. I'd estimate it would cost now well over £12k to restore to this standard, reflected in what I paid for it a few years back. I'd estimate maybe £8k as a realistic sale price these days, possibly less?
Of course to the right buyer a nice unrestored original one will always be more valuable, but the market will decide and don't expect a queue of buyers would be my view.
Fabulous usable bikes whatever the market! Mine enjoying the Hereford on the edge rally last year.
Good luck with your sale.

3-5 years ago it cost me £11.5k and it's one bike I didn't think I'd lose money on. Unfortunately, those who remember it from back them are all old bastards like me!
In the BMW magazine this month - you can buy a 30-40k absolute original & unmolested minter early R90s (early alloy winkers) for £7500

Not thinking of selling and I know prices have dropped but genuinely interested in where people think this puts the value of my 75 original and unmolested UK Daytona with just over 7,500 documented miles from new?

I really do not know why People "have to" continue to schit on Peoples "Adverts"

So Bottom Line is there were about 17,000 R90S built Between 1973 to 1976

There were far far more R80 and R100 variants built from 1977 through to 1996

It's rare
It's original
it's Unrestored Which most people seem to WASTE Thousands of £s or $s on and then lament the loss of that money

So As I said to @Khulu

Advertise it at your price in multiple locations and someone will see it for what it is worth and it only takes one person to open their wallet !!

Now the rest of You whinging cnuts!!

Away and Fuck off an ride your bikes!

Having never been in the market for a classic, I'd go for a BMW or Japanese (useable classics blah blah) before even considering a British bike. Don't get me wrong I love to see beautiful British bikes but they seem to need more TLC and general fettling than the above, so that excludes me.

Anyway, enough bollocks, waffle and irrelevance.
I would have no worries buying a bike off the OP Iain. Furthermore, he has an engineering background and no doubt this bike is in top running order.

Good luck with the sale and have a bump.

I bought my matching R90s 5 years ago for £8450 through Charter House auction. It has original paint too! I think it would do well to achieve £7000 now. Occasionally, two buyers are after one at the same time so you achieve a decent price! Not advice just my opinion!

You surprise me JB!

So ... are they good to ride? My ride on an R90s was the first BM I'd ever ridden and the reason for my enduring love of the marque. I can't emphasise enough how far it stood out from other bikes at the time. In terms of touring performance, two up cruising at autobahn speeds was unexceptional. You could not say that about ANY British bike of the time and very few if any Japanese or European competitors!

Likewise, once used to the gearbox and driveshaft torque reaction, handling and roadholding as good as anything on the road at the time. A Ducati Darmah was comparable or even better perhaps but then it had a chain. Acceleration via the amount of torque from two pumper carbs? Ditto. Then there's the quality of the paintwork and the exclusivity derived from the price. I certainly could not afford the £3k and had to settle for an R60/6 at around half the money!

I'd have this one like a shot but for the lock up being chock full at the moment!

Thanks
I do fancy a classic Beemer and a R90s or a R90/6 piques my interest somewhat and especially as they have come down in price from their giddy heights
Something to ride across France and Spain to the Colombres rallies
