Hello all,

I dare say this question has been covered in the past but I had trouble finding it, so I’ll ask anyway.

I have a problem with the Idling on my 2002GS (4200 Miles). With the bike fully warmed up I’m getting between 900 to 1000 rpm. On occasion I have to blip the throttle to try and maintain a decent level.

Question is – Is it easy to remedy? Bear in mind that I am climbing out of the Neanderthal stage of mechanics and think, if shown with a nice diagram, would be able to sort it out myself.

All help is much appreciated.
Cheers

Bob, the solution is to raise the idle to about 1,000 to 1,100 rpm and then the big twins idle quite nicely.

Thats the good news. The bad news is that yes you can do it yourself but you will have to either find someone with a balancing gauge as in TwinMax or purchase one yourself.

The alignment of the cables and throttle bodies on these twins is very critical and needs to be done exactly. It isn't hard it just needs to be exact.

Mick.

Come to Sarratt tonight and I'll adjust it for you with my Twinmax - drop me a line and I'll talk you through some stuff.

Thanks for the info guys.

Mr Slicker, where the hell is Sarratt? ( forgive my ignorance - new to the community:rolleyes: ) I would of took you up on the offer had I viewed this page earlier. Anywhere near north London? Give or take 100miles.

Cheers!

Sorry - Sarratt is the local meet for GSers in the London/Herts/Beds/Bucks area roughly around where the M1 and M25 meet. I just got back. You should book time in 2 weeks from tonight and come down.

Drop me a line and we'll arrange to hook up in the week, if you can manage to come to ******* (sorry I would tell you where I live here but David Holmes might be listening and I may have cats to protect :D) Safe to say that I'm geographically close to you.
