Boots don't fit. Advice please.

For the past 7 years or so I've used TCX Boots. Great boots, always happy with them.

I usually use the S-Race variety for summer and winter versions.

However, now I've got my GSA TB I was thinking of expanding my off-road skills with a BMW Course sometime this year. But on their website it states 'Motocross boots' are a prerequisite. Fair enough, so I bought some TCX Comp Evo Michelin boots to break-in and have them spare and ready.

However, they're bloody massive and I can't even get my toe under the gear lever. So no way in control of the bike.

This means I need to consider returning them? or change my gear lever height. However I still use my other boots all the time so don't want an adjustment completely out of whack on the gear lever.

These TCX Comp Evo boots are very stiff with not much ankle movement at all. However I do like them for protection and sole height.

What would you do?

I just got Forma Adventure boots, and suffer same problem.

Walk up/down stairs, stand on toes and do gentle squats and you will break them in.

All the household will laugh at you, sometimes sacrifices are required.

i wear Sidi Adv boots all year round, they have great ankle movement and are really easy to walk in too, when i picked my new bike up on Friday the first thing i did was try the gear lever for position and get the dealers to adjust it up a notch - perfect..

Either flog the boots or adjust your gear lever FFS it's not that difficult...

iv got the same boot o wore mine to work for a month they tuck a good bit to bed them in

That's where I'm in between.

Reviews I'd read suggest they don't need bedding in which (having never worn these type of boots) didn't make sense how they were so stiff??

Ok, I might give them a break in routine, see if I can get on with them.

I would stick with them, I`ve no experience of TCX boots but am on second pair of Sidi Crossfires. My thoughts were exactly the same as yours, felt bulky, hitting neutral or trying 3 times to change up. The sole sticks out a fair bit from most MX boots and instead of hooking your foot under the pedal use the lip of the sole, adjusting the pedal up a bit helps as well. Once your flying around Walters Arena with ORS you will soon forget about the boots. Sidi adventures are far more comfortable (slippers in comparison) and I think they allow them. Second pair of crossfires were the next size up and I had to get used to them all over again.

OK Great. Going to stick with them..

I've just been in garage and altered gear lever peg to farthest and highest point. That's already helped.

With a bit of luck I won't need to alter the lever itself now.

Not when I was there, they didn't - because they're as soft as slippers...

Yep your right, guy on a course I was on was not allowed to wear them a couple of years ago. A mate was wearing them on the Portugal trip this year, maybe different rules on the trips.

Nothing short of Riot Armour. So going to have to get used to them before I do anything else

Don't worry about it. Ride with whatever you fancy on road and just keep the enduro boots for the ORS. By the end of the first hour, they'll feel totally natural - and all the ORS bikes are already set up for big boots...
