aloha,
spied some (new) ALPINESTARS Tech 4 MotoX boots at what I think is a good price (£80 IIRC).
Question- what will these be like on a GS used mainly (alright pretty much exclusively:augie) on the road?

Got Altbergs at the mo' which are comfy and warm and goretex lined (haven't really challenged their waterproofing capabilities yet if I'm honest), but they're lace up which I can't use on any off road courses I may take in spring. Also thinking of time getting kitted up (clips faster than laces - how sad is that?) and also can't resist a bargain.

Have no experience of off road riding or kit, so no idea what the limitations of moto x boots may be on the road.

Any observations, wise ones?

The Tech 4s won't be waterproof, unlike the Altbergs which although they have a waterproof membrane aren't Gore-Tex. They'll also probably feel like wearing plaster casts after the Altbergs. You might need to raise the gearlever on the GS in order to be able to change up wearing the the Tech 4s. However, it's worth pulling the rubbers out of the GS footpegs and trying that first.

I went through a phase of wearing my Sidi Flexforce SRS most of the time I was riding the GS but lately I've gone back to my Altberg Clubman Classics, if only because they're far easier to walk around in.

thanks for that.:thumb2 I was just about to come over all "how dare u suggest my altbergs aren't goretex" when I had a bit of doubt in my mind and went to check 'em. By Jove, you're right - not goretex. No idea why I thought they were. I do remember the (very helpful) dude in t altberg shop banging on about waterproof membrane etc....

They (altbergs) are comfy and warm, so will stick with them I think. Tehy are the combined walking and bike boot (Hogg model I think) so should be comfy. Can't be bothered with adjusting the bike and yer plaster cast reference makes me think they'll get on me wick (Tech 4s that is).

thanks again,:thumb2

Tech 4's ...

... don't loosen up to well; having persevered for quite a while I just found them too unyielding for road use and sold a pair on here ages ago because of that very issue :(
