Borders trail

you were nae aroond ST Marys Loch today were you Kai

Passed a couple of GS'ers today on my Borders run. One GS + a sporty type bike on the road over Megget and another solo GS heading west along past the Gordon Arms Hotel towards St Mary's Loch.

Brilliant day and quiet roads.

Pics - looking back at Tala Resr., Megget Resr.

That's not a ford, it's a moving puddle:D

I's so shallow the depth poles aren't even wet!

No. But stragely enough, I was planning a route around there and then via Megget and Talla. But as the tank was almost empty at the start I took the back roads to Selkirk then on to Hawick, Denholm, Kelso, St Boswells, Selkirk again and home via the wee roads from Gala to Stow (minor roads to Lauder to avoid the A7).

Borders Run......

I too had a wee ride out in the Borders on Saturday....such a nice day that I couldn't be arsed stopping to take loads of photo's....but I left a trail of breadcrumbs so I could see where I'd been.....

175 miles in warm sunshine on dry roads in the middle of February........not a bad way to spend a Saturday, especially with a decent fish lunch in Eyemouth en route.......

Tried the route tracking facility on my Zumo 550 for the first time today......easy to use & you can see exactly where you've been......

Transfer to MapSource......to see the whole day's riding......the Zumo saves segments of the day's riding, from stop to stop.......so you highlight them all at once to see the complete route......

Once tracks are converted to routes they can be shared by putting onto SD card......

Cheers

That looks like an idea for the week before Rosedale!

We (that's Gecko & I) are coming over to explore the area before the rally.
I'm doing the routes and looking for some gentle off-roading opportunities.

Where can I find details on this route? Garmin tracks are welcome of course :augie

Gordon's shot of the bridge in Peebles brings back some memories for me as I lived in Peebles in the 60s and 70s attending Kingsland Primary. Each Spring the Beltane festival used to be held on the steps of the church in the distance and I can just about recall being a page-boy back in 1969 - still got my dad's old 8mm cine footage of it somewhere - under lock-and-key.

Fantastic day out by the look of it, heralding a great ride-out season ahead!

It seems like half of this forum ventured out around the Borders on Saturday. Me too. I did wave at a few Gses on route along St Mary's loch and over by Meggat, but didn't see any you at the Glen Cafe. What a great day to get out, I can't believe it's mid February. Still had to wash the salt off this morning though. :thumb
