bought a 1100gs, have a few question's,?

Mr Hermit :-)
I have a GS just like your red 1100gs donor bike in the first picture in the thread on the mods you made. Since your mods I wonder if you still have the extended screen and auxiliary front lights that were originally fitted. If so and you don't need them would you be interested in selling them to me for my bike? Feel free to call or text on 07968 352875 to discuss if you like
Cheers, Nick

altered it a bit more,

old triumph h/light,

glued some bit's of 1/8" alloy plate on the p/tank, cover's up most of the pipe work etc,

made the seat a bit wider, must be getting old, and as i've bought a smaller tent, took off my b&q top-box and used one of my old harley saddle bag's, mounted it with bit's of angle iron and box section i found in the garage,

tie-wrapped a sheet of rubber round the rear shock, keep's the road dirt out,

you need to discover soldering and shrink wrap :P

and Pirreli Phantoms? thats so 1982! :aidan

Love the way you protect the shock, but there's naf all to protect you:blast.

This bike just gets better n better :clap:clap

Thanks for bumping this back up - I've just been inspired!

I bought an R1100RS with a knackered gearbox a few weeks ago and just finished fettling it. After a couple of hundred miles, I'm sure the ergonomics aren't for me, so it has to go - one way or the other. I doubt whether it's worth much more than I've got in it (£1,200) and although it's mechanically sound and runs lovely, it's a bit cosmetically challenged.

I thought of swapping it for an old airhead (a mate has an R100RT which needs work and he needs a reliable bike), but I'm now wondering whether to sell the fairing, tank, etc and do something like this :)

Question - how do you get on with the insurance? I put the RS on my existing policy for about £40, but although they didn't bother about the loud Laser exhaust, I think they may object to many of the type of modifications I'm seeing on this thread!

First view of this thread.. Proper cheered me up...love it

i have'nt really changed it that much, std GS can be converted to a single seater, you can buy foot-rest's that are lowered & further forward, that's all i've done to mine, so i dont feel the need to inform the insurance company,

Fair enough doing it to a cat c or cat d accident damaged if that is your thing but !
