I am hoping someone who has already got some braided hoses might be able to tell me hows their's are configured.

I have an X-reg (2000) 1150GS not GSA.
I recently fitted bar-risers, and now the front brake lines are just a fraction too short and i have to have the bars tipped forward.

I want to replace the standard hoses with braided lines. And have found a company that can make up goodrich hoses for me, if i take the lines in.

However I just noticed the originals on mine (non -ads model) has a single pipe from the brake lever/resevioir down to a block splitter, where a solid pipe T's off to the left (as you sit on the bike), where if joins a flexable pipe down to the left hadn caliper. Another flexible pipe runs down from this block vertically to the right hand caliper.

1) Now, the connections into this "splitter block" for want of a better term are crimped and don't appear to come apart or do they?

2) Second,, for those who have had braided hoses, does yours have a splitter block or do they use some sort of piggy back banjo and then an up-an-over cable from the right hand caliper to the left.??

I am trying to determine how other have had theirs done, before i waste any cash or damage anything trying to remove em.

Cheers John

Options..

Just spoken with the shop, they can apparently replaced my 3piece setup with a two pipe setup, by using a double banjo out of the reseviour as i dont have abs.

Anyone had this done to theirs?

John

IIRC you can reroute the original hose behind the top yoke, it will reach ok. not got one here, so can't check.

of course you might be set on braided anyway by now?

To avoid having it all apart B4 getting the new lines, get some string and measure the pipe lengths (not inc the banjos) by holding against the pipes as you go. Goodridge do all sorts of connectors and pre made length so you can just mimic the original setup using their fittings :thumb2

Goodridge catalogue linky Page 26 shows T-pieces for the fork leg junction.

That make sense? :)

BRAKES

Hi

Just completed the job of fitting braded hoses to my 1100, bought a Goodridge kit from motorworks that replaced like for like ie 4 lines for my abs model.
Not as straight forward as for some bikes, had to reomove the front wheel and mudgaurd to fit the lines to the spitter and move the tank back to connect to the abs feed. Bleeding the system was ok and undertaken with a one man bleeding kit. If you are stuck give motorworks a call they should be able to sort you out and you will get the correct fittings.

Regards

Mike
