Johno not sure, but I got an estimate of £466 for the service from a bm main dealer . So I just need 3\8 torque wrench the rest of the gear I swopped my tig welder ( an old boc scratch one) for a set of 1\2" 3\8" ratchets and assorted sockets and a complete set of torx sockets. So so I think I'll invest in gs-911. Your question will it bleed fully without the gs-911 je ne sais quoi.

No guarantee all the fluid gets changed with the 911 I guess. You could do a bleed, use the bike for a ride, come back and bleed again, that might move some more. Might be a chance of getting more of the old stuff out. Deffo worth removing all the old fluid from the reservoir and topping with clean stuff. That way new stuff is being pulled through straight away. Fishy, notice on your location you have Fisherrow amongst others, that as in Musselburgh?

MWH . My dad and uncle and my grandparents lived on New street Fisherrow. My cousins still live in Penicuik, brother lives in Eyemouth. I lived for a while with my brother in Peterhead and worked as an engineer. But Dad always said Fisherrow not Musselburgh both grandparents the Seahouses one as well were fishermen. After Peterhead I came home to sunny Seahouses. Going back to the fluid that link by Jim Baden he doesn't mention any probs with residual fluid and to be honest it would only surely very small amounts. I think we can get carried away by thinking that some things are beyond us. I remember in this Russian factory we had a major breakdown on one whitefish line everything stopped the company engineer panicking. I had a friend an engineer from Iceland who got everything going with a piece of plastic sheeting to allow the cod fillets to slide over a damaged roller. Heavens as an old guy once said to me they have put men on the moon what are you standing about with your fingers in your mouths. So go for it! I went for it!! Where are you from? Maybe meet up when weather and wife's health improve.

I can guess you can simulate what the GS911 does by going for a ride after the fluid flush and activating the ABS. Obviously, in a safe manner and place......

I changed the brake fluid on my 2011 r1200gs. I used a hand operated vacuum pump and also a gs911. The vacuum pump draws the fluid through and the gs911 cycles the abs valves through the test facility which is part of its functions. I could hear the valves clicking but I do not believe that the flow of fluid being drawn through was increased or interupted. My conclusion from this experience is that the fluid within the abs valve block (for want of a better name), is changed anyway as part of the flush through. I don't believe that a gs911 is needed to completely change the fluid, although I understand from Jim von Baden's video earlier models do need a different procedure in which the Gs911 is of more use.

Well guys getting heads together works. Any one out today?meant to go to PD this week but I'm feered. Ice and slush so discretion rather than valour. It's strange thinking back to my beginning biking I'm sure we all just rode through the winters, but did we?.

Trouble is bendy I used to take risks too ( one 80 mph off) few into the hedges on icy roads, one sheep, oohhn that was major gravel rash.But since my Linda came through her cancer op/treatment I feel a bit more ,,,, well not so immortal. But the canny lass holds no bars to what I do its just me.
