Just had my old girl in for a full service over at Moll Springs Motorcycles nr Huddersfield today. She's suffered this winter and was in need of some tlc. I asked them to look at the front brake in particular as the brakes didn't seem 'as sharp' as they had been. Turns out there is a 'bleb' on the offside bottom hose just below the splitter. When the brakes are applied there is a swelling in the hose:(

They didn't have a replacement there so a quick check with Motorworks site only shows some Goodrich ones at £130 (although that does include the rear as well) They dont list any OEM ones:nenau

Not on Sherlocks site either, or Steptoe's shop:tears

Is it worth fitting Goodrich? Bikes done 85k now so is it worth the extra pennies?

Anyone have any pointers as to where else I can look? Dunno what dealers charge

The bike is a X reg 1150gs (non servo) abs.

Cheers

If they're the original brake lines.. what? 9 years old?? then you've had your moneys worth from them.

You can get original rubber hoses from the dealers. probably looking at around £70. I cant find an actual price in £ so may turn out to be cheaper. The yanks have to pay $150 for a set. (so £70 seems likely)

best to simply phone a dealer.. they'll give you a price in seconds.

If you can find someone local who can make them up for you.. that'll be the cheapest option. Otherwise just go to HEL for £98.73 front only if you're on a tight budget. I wouldn't bother changing the rear hose.

Hi, by coincidence my '00 1150GS is at Mollsprings just now for a full service! I've just swapped the original brake lines for a full Goodridge set in stainless from Motorworks. Front & rear for £109. Doddle to fit, using the original fixed pipe over the wheel. Highly recommended! (bike is non-ABS by the way)
Cheers

Hi Chris, the yellow one yeah? Yes I did notice, looks good I must say so that may be the way to go.

I will ring Rainbow tomo but I suspect they may be closed. Thanks for the replies:thumb2

Would recommend HEL as well, very good products and first class service.

A lot of their stuff is very well priced too, their stainless bleed nipples, stainless banjos etc are all cheaper than anywhere else.

I bought Goodridge with stainless fittings from RiceRocketuk - on ebay. Very good stocks and arrived next day. Full set for £105.74 - delivered (1100GS with ABS).

I put a HEL set on my bike nearly two years ago and the braided steel is starting to rust nearby the ends. Not really impressed with the quality. Maybe I was unlucky, but what can I do now? Not much I am afraid.

Well, bitten the bullet and gone for set of these. My mate will fit 'em for a case of beer and he can do it this week so that'll save some pennies and I can get it MOT'd. Looking forward to having some decent brakes again. Thanks for the replies and pointers:thumb2
