last two days red warning triangle has come on with flashing red brake failure light also speedo not working, brakes are working normally. Will stay like this until I turn off ignition and let reset then ok . Done this three times now in last two days.
Checked usual, front brake lever not restricted by hand guard, front and rear brake lever and pedal switches working ok.

Bike was due in for service today but Rainbow closed due to floods etc

Bit concerned will have no brakes at some point.

Brakes are servo ABS

Any ideas.

Check the speed sensor in the final drive/bevel box. This you will have to take rear wheel off.
Also check abs cables, sensors and ring for damage and positioning

My GS goes in on the 5th due to the same problem, everytime I go anywhere near central London the servo shuts down, the speedo buggers off and I have to get used to non-assisted, non-ABS brakes.

I don,t mind but you don,t get much warning and you don,t know what speed your doing through the plague of speed cameras on route.

Leave the bike for half hour and everything is fine, my guess is it is due to hard use which is what happens when you go into Central London (not sure that is much of an excuse though)

Having had the servo pack up on an RT in the past, the symptoms you describe look like the lead up to servo failure. As you know you still have residual braking without the servo, but it's not nearly as good as with it. Take care while riding without the servo (as if I need to tell you that). Get it in to your dealer quickly.

My bike was two years out of warranty and dealer serviced and Joe Duffy BMW (Dublin) repaired it as a good will gesture. :thumb

I had this fault on my first 1200, but it was so intermittant i could never get it to fail at the dealers and the GT1 would always report the fault as being resolved.

Eventually the fault occoured within 20 miles of the dealer so I rode the bike into SPC's with the fault current, chucked it onto the GT1 and a dodgy servo assy was diagnosed, the part was ordered and i rode the bike away again to return a couple of days later for the work, I got a couple of miles down the road approached a mini roundabout, when I operated the brake lever the brakes locked on solid for a split second then resorted to residual braking, this unnerved me enough to give it back to SPC straight away.

So be careful if you continue to use it despite its warnings.

Brake Problem update

Dealer cleaned rear abs sensor which was contaminated with more than usual crap such as metal filings etc, assume these of the pads apparantly this also send information to the speedo so this could make sense as now when warning triangle and break failure light come on speedo stops working. If this does not cure the fault they will fit a new ABS/servo pump (think thats what it is called)
So will have to wait and see.
Thanks for the help will let you know

Same procedure they tried with mine:nenau I'm sure they will sort it but just be careful in the meantime:thumb2

Brake Failure

Problem has occurred twice again, this time again speedo stopped but this time rear brake efficiency poor, then when really pushed rear pedal hard, back brake locked no abs, front brake seemed normal perhaps a bit sharper than usual if anything.Stayed like this for 40 miles then when ignotion turned off then on problem rectified no red traingle and flahing brake failure light on dash.
In for service on 18th so dealer will have better look at whats going on.
