jeez wouldn't have wanted to be the service manager at motorrad central today good luck guys with the issues ,keep us updated

I just traded my 16 plate RS for this GS. I had no probs with the RS whatsoever. I loved it but I wanted a do it all bike. Pretty pissed of to walk out the dealership with my RS sitting there looking pretty

Teething problems, it will be fine, I was pissed when I bought my new 2017 Gs and 2 weeks later got a call had to bring it in for the fork recall, better they sort the problem than you have no brakes when needed...:beerjug:

Just pop down to the nearest Harley dealer, I'm sure they have some brake calipers in stock :D

They pulled the brake fluid out of mine at 6k and 12k I thought 'excessive' , dealer says BMW recommend it and lever will improve and oil in pot looks cleaner,

The RS is a great bike, hard to leave but i have to have a GS, even if its to say i've been there. ;)

You couldn’t make this up. :jes:jes:jes

I can’t believe I seriously considered a 1250. Lucky escape. BMW aren’t cutting costs, my fucking arse.

I know how you feel, I am thinking about cancelling my new bike which is due to arrive in a couple of weeks on the off chance one of my callipers might leak! On one of my Harley I did swap out the Hayes callipers for Harris billet callipers, Harris make fantastic products :)

I predict a return to Brembos

Really? Surely they’ll just implement more frequent quality checks/audits at the Hayes factory and increase the goods inwards sampling rate initially? This is probably just a tolerance issue after all and we don’t know whether it’s poor design or just poor manufacturing.

Major companies won’t terminate a suppliers contract immediately in my experience, but implement more stringent QA processes and then monitor the situation to verify that the early failure rate has improved to an acceptable level i.e. above the minimum written in the contract.

It’s always best to work with suppliers to improve quality if possible, which can be hard work in China, even when it’s a subsidiary of a major European, American or Japanese company.

Picked up new 1250 gsa TE last week....went playing 350 miles around lakes n dales......absolutely brilliant bike....quieter, smoother, quicker and tft is a joy....connected phone, nav, music and Shoei Neotec 2.......happy days.......
500 miles now and after triple black I thought it wouldn’t be much different.....think again.....

Have exactly the same problem, leak on the front right caliper 6 weeks ago, on my R1250GS Build Dec 2018. Caliper replaced from a newer build and leaked again so now waiting in line (a great British tradition) for another set. Dealership service people are good and have gone out their way for me but with a poor quality build problem BMW need to step up and support their dealers. Loaning BMW the best part of £Ks for a bike that is unsafe is not my idea of an investment. Apologies my very first post

I share @sven's opinion here.
BMW has a long history in sticking to their decisions and sort out problems rather than run and hide.
The BMW calipers appears to be the x-32 calipers with a BMW logo. The calipers has been around for a while, and while a seep of fluid is not good at all, there is probably a batch of calipers that for some reason are flawed. We are dealing with two companies with a long and respected history, and neither will find this flaw acceptable.

I'm picking up my GSA in a couple of days, and I'm not worried at all. In my book this is a minor flaw that will be taken care of..:beerjug:

I ordered it three weeks ago and got it two weeks ago. At the time of ordering I asked if there were any known issues since it came out in October. None whatsoever they said. Bull!
So is it a case of sell them and see what happens? Pretty irresponsible if you ask me. I didn’t spot the problem during my 600 miles. Could it have caused an accident? Would they have accepted responsibility? I would still be the one worse off!!

You won’t be saying that if your bike develops this brake fault and you can’t use it as no spare parts available!

And by the way, I wouldn’t describe a brake leak as a minor flaw when you go about at 70 mph

Hayes have been making callipers for Harleys for years and they don't leak, so it must be a seal or something, its annoying but not the end of the world. It will get sorted, saying that I will be monitoring my callipers and keeping my fingers crossed.

Exactly this........i was seriously considering the 1250 ....and trading the TB in. Took an extended test ride of 250 miles !!!! on the 1250 and after that , it felt exactly the same as the 1200 TB. wasn't worth spending another 3 or 4 k to have the latest bike with all the issues that were coming. I will buy a 1250 but more than likely for next march when hopefully issues will be sorted

No way you must ride below 3000 revs if you didn't notice a difference
