Brand new Moto Guzzi v100s corrosion

Great result, well done for keeping on keeping on.

I think it might be worth another letter to MG in Mandello, and their imported in the UK, possibly next week, whilst it’s still fresh in your mind, but you’ve relaxed enough to be dispassionate.

I’m sure Piaggio/MG don’t want bad publicity, and it surely devalues their expensive advertising campaigns when a dealer acts like a prick, as they clearly have on this occasion.

if you can Google specific people, and better yet, their email addresses, you can get past the secretarial filters. Takes a bit of determination, usually worth the effort.

I had a similar issue with some accessories recently, I asked the dealer to sort it, they gave me the virtual finger, I made the online court claim and got my claim in full, the 35 quid court costs and about 50p in interest. If the dealer hadn’t been a prick, I’d probably have settled for £50 as a good will gesture, but he didn’t, so he got his just desserts.

Non illegitimi carborundum, as they never said in Rome.

A great outcome DING-DONG and many thanks for keeping us up to date - a great thread to refer back to if any of us find ourselves in the same situation.

The internet has helped to create one very small world and the information contained within this thread will never go away. This dealer has made a dreadful error of judgement and they picked on the wrong man. Very well done Sir...:thumb2

I’m so pleased this has been settled to your satisfaction but it’s a shame it took the reality of a county court claim to get there.

I can’t believe they had the front to complain you had shown them as the registered keeper after they left your details on the V5. That made me laugh. I’m no expert in these matters but surely they could have shown it as ‘in trade.’

Anyways congratulations on ‘winning’ even though you simply wanted what was rightfully yours.

The dealer had a lot to learn but deaf ears.

Brilliant news Dave....Think you need/deserve a nice holiday and chill after all that crap

What do they say , get good service tell one person, get bad tell ten. Very true of this thread and the accompanying Google reviews. I was always told errors and mistakes happen. Its how you behave and respond afterwards that makes the difference in customer service.

Well done Ding-Dong, good result. Would love to know what is said between the dealer and Moto-Guzzi regarding the history and future of the bike. If it arrived at the dealer in that condition, then MSG will be pee'd off, but then again they should never have let it pass the PDI nor tried to palm it off on you, so for that and their appauling attitude they deserve the consequences of this situation. If MG care as little about their dealers as the customers, they will tell MSC to accept it, in reality it will be sold as a used bike to someone else. Hope other punters refuse to buy it, which will reinforce how sub-standard it is even for a used albeit delivery mileage bike. The question is, why would anyone buy such a bike even at a slightly lower price, just go new and hope the quality is better.

Put it behind you mate and look forward to the next bike, any ideas what you will go for ?

Well done for your persistence ding-dong and shame on Mrs. Webster-Noble for her treatment of you and bringing Moto Guzzi into disrepute.

, any ideas what you will go for ?

When they first released the v100s and I had a demo bike from Arnold’s i was hooked, so I really wanted to try a v100s and I’m sure I could find a perfect bike from another dealer, however the let down by the manufacturer has really tarnished it.

MG have issues at the factory with the paint on the engine, several parts of the engine look a different shade and it’s a known problem.

Well done ding-dong, you've been treated shabbily from people who should know better. This could have all been so different if they had just been fair, reputation once lost takes some getting back. This episode will have undoubtedly cost them business.

Its a good lesson for them to learn from and i hope they do.

Whatever bike you end up with i hope you enjoy it.

Well done Ding-Dong; it's a shame you've been put off MG. A PR disaster for MSC and so easily avoided.

What an excellent result, well done Dave for sticking to your guns. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot, MSC managed to do it several times. The Google reviews will be around for a very long time.

They sound a strange bunch at MSC, bet you are relieved you've finally washed your hands of it all just a shame you had to push it for them to do whats right.

my thoughts , worth nothing .

only done 1 mile ? PDI should state a test ride , i used to do 6 miles . 12 if i need to ride it twice .

marks on frame , slipped windy gun ? , bolts might have been swapped around ...... on pdi , i liked to take things out and c/slip them , but i do them 1 by 1.

rr ind bolt , never seen a guzzi with that colour fixing. same on the other side ?

radiator ? hmm , stand out like a sore thumb , not good.

main c/case corrosion , not good ,reject on this. it shouldn't have left the shop.

do not ride it . cover it up , get them to collect it.

good luck .

i wouldn't have posted on social media , that may make things a little harder for you, they have a right to reply , B4 you get arsey and go public.
Actually they don’t. Consumer protection act says a product must be perfect and if it isn’t can be rejected out of hand in the first month. The issue here is two fold. The product is not right and the agent (dealer) let the bike leave their showroom like this.

If the bike had left the showroom in perfect condition and the dealer could not have reasonably know something was wrong then I would agree with you. For this they deserve both barrels.

A fair outcome but it doesn't absolve the dealership from supplying a bike in that appalling condition. As you say, it's a cop out on their duty of care to you their customer. Under the Consumer Rights Act, they have fulfilled their obligations in offering a brand new bike. Lets hope this one will be checked! It doesn't answer any question marks about the possibility of a bike which could have been supplied with a swapped motor in it (as could be reasonably suspected from the photographic evidence, or at least that this one had the motor removed for some reason?). As with one of the comments above, I'd be seeing if I could have a courtesy bike supplied as I wouldn't put much hope on the bike definitely being with you in a month. Many Italian factories shut down for two weeks over Christmas. Still, I wouldn't turn down the offer of a newer model with some improvements on it for no extra cash.
Actually they haven’t met there obligations under the CPA. If problems arise within the first 30 days the consumers right is for a replacement OR full refund PLUS any extraordinary expenses incurred due to the issues (I.e breakdown recovery etc).

It is clear the retailer must offer both once they have accepted the product is not fit under the CPA definition.
