Had a R1150R in yesterday (along with a dropped valve on a 1200) with a nicely broken can chain guide rail.
The owner was told the bike was a write off due to the costs involved of replacing it by the book, which involves splitting the engine cases

By the end of the day job done and bike repaired using my simplified method... Must have done 20 or so bikes over the last ten years using this method and never any problems
I should do a write up for the job...... but no, feck it, let one of the other dealers do something for the good of the forum for a change.
