My week old 1200GS 'burbles' and sometimes makes a small 'pop' on the overrun - it has done this from day one - is this normal?

I am still running-in the bike, done about 400 miles so far.

Normal for me - I put it down to being the fastest colour.

So you bought a red one too :-)

Seriously though it seems that BMW fuel injection isn't quite as 'sorted' as Ducati's - or maybe it's more difficult to make fuel injection for a 'boxer' engine than for a 90 degree L-twin?

mine does it too...sounds even nicer when it burbles and pops through a Scorpion can (where the baffle has accidentally come out:D)

Glad to hear that it's normal :-)

Mine also... I was concerned and asked the dealer last week, who said that maybe I was not closing the throttle completely on over run. So I made a definate effort to shut throttle, and guess what- it still burbles and pops:)

Sounds from replies so far that this is normal then:D

Totally normal

When I first got mine I thought it needed the software update but they checked at the 1000k and it had the latest map.

Just ignored it and dont even notice it now

Must say, I never noticed it with the standard can on. With the remus, it definately burbles and most certainly pops......normally when going past a police car:D

But BMW electrics don't pack up at the first sign of rain.:D
......you think so?? I've had two break downs which say you're wrong!!!

Mine makes relatively nice noises for a stock can. I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe its the go faster valve

An on the wiring front, Ive been investigating the innards fo my 12 most last week and can confrim theres lots of unwell insluated wiring and unwaterproof connectors here and there  ....but it'll all be ok :D

Quite normal and sounds especially nice between walls and in tunnels.

My Ducati has not once let me down in 2.5 years and more than 19,000 miles - if serviced by the book modern Ducatis are at least as reliable as any other bike - I heard recently that Ducatis now come with a 3 year warranty!
