if in dornoch a great hot choc can be had at cocoa mountain. they also do coffees but i can't commment on the quality/taste.
I’ve been avoiding the A68 for years due to the amount of speed cameras on the Scottish part. I wasn’t aware they had been deactivated. Is there a reason they have been deactivated? Surely they were a great cash cow for the government?https://g.co/kgs/RsZ6wMe The Main Street bookshop and cafe/bistro is an excellent stop off for anyone heading north or south on the A68.
Time was, I'd have avoided the 68 like the plague. Now all the speed cameras have been deactivated (on the Scotland side anyway) and the road surface is very good, it's a joy to ride.
The cafe is just off the main road, has very good grub and coffee and a wide range of books to browse.
A great stop to chill for a while.
Too expensive to service I suspect. The official reason given was that drivers were now driving to a much higher standard so they were redundant! The A697 through Coldstream is still my favoured “Ogri” route. No cops, cameras and £5 rolls. There used to be hotties too - so I’ve been toldToo expensive to service I suspect. Me too, and I used to live in Hawick, so A7 was always easier to get to the north. However, was onthe A7 the with my son on Friday, and from the Galashiels to the Midlothian/Scottish Border boundary, there is an imposed 50mph limit. It was Friday, it was about 7.30-8.00 p.m. we might have done it a little faster than that - but watch out...I’ve been avoiding the A68 for years due to the amount of speed cameras on the Scottish part.
