Cam chain tensioner question

On my old R1100s i had to replace the chain chain tensioners with modified units as they were allowing the oil to run back. The minor problem that this created was "clatter" from the cam chain when started from cold.

My 09 GS has started to show the same clatter characteristic when starting from cold and as there are only 2200mls on the clock.... is this a common (known) issue or should i have this matter sorted / investigated next month when the FD bearing is replaced along with the fuel gauge inaccuracy (3rd attempt)

Had exactly the same problem on my R1100s fitted the later tensioner and problem solved, my 58 plate 12k gsa is now doing the same as yours not heard of a fix tho may be worth a call to the dealers to see if a mod is avalible
