Jacked the XC (standard bash plate fitted) up on an old dirt bike stand yesterday to whip the wheel out and it's unstable to the point of unsafe so I had to skip that plan and workaround it.
Just wondering if anyone's got a stable solution for getting the wheels off the deck AND keeping it stable?

Today I had to take out the front wheel of our recently purchased X country , because a (BMW) dealer who sold the bike to the guy I bought it off had put the tyre on wrong way round .
But I had axle stand under the footrest mount on the right after lifting it over on the side stand then a workshop wide jack up bash plate and when the wheel was out spindle back in with an axle stand under that in case and yes a bit wobbly . but needs must as her indoors hopes to ride it tomorrow.
Going to sort out a stand to do the job properly.
I wait to see if you get any post with some good ideas.
Paddock stand on the back using a rod through the hollow spindle to keep it steady then jack up under sump guard will be my next move for front removal .

Ratchet strap in middle of handle bar, rear rack and up over rafter in shed roof.

Not a cheap solution but safe and versatile. I got one of these Abba stands - here is the salesman demonstrating with my bike on the stand. Since buying it, I have had my GSA up on it. A good feature is that you can also selectively raise the front or rear of the bike to a considerable elevation.

Hi Chris you have pm!
What fitting is on the Abba Skylift for the X Country, the folks at Abba Stand didn't have a clue which fitted it, initially telling me the stand would not fit the XCountry at all!

Right. Much bodging around since the original post, still using a selection of wobbly stands/jacks/sticks but just noticed (doh) the XC has lugs to take a centre stand - dont fancy running one permanently but has any one fitted a centre stand for temporary workshop duties? Looks like aftermarket are available (spensive) but I wonder if some bee em ones might come up cheap on fleabay...

I got a flat once in the Cardamom mountains while stopping for a coffee. I found a local who swapped out the inner tube for me. They just pulled the bike up against the stand to get the wheel off the ground and put a block of wood under the frame. I winced but actually it was steady as a rock. Sometimes the simplest ways are best, I guess.

Hepco & Becker do a great centre stand for the Xcountry ... available from Wunderlich :thumb

With a pair of cheap axle stands a cheap trolley Jack all from halfords, I can easily get both wheels up safe and secure on the Xmoto.
Even with the cat sat on the seat, lazy feker didn't budge once.

there was a japanese post concerning a homemade stand for the F650 CS, which was made out of wood and metal.
I followed that and made a metal stand instead.
However I can't find the link, but there are references to it on some sites.

Josey

Looks like it could fit the bill - X Challenge and X Country share the same frame AFAIK

Unfortunately the X-Challenge is a taller bike, with longer supension
Wasn't made clear in the original post!

So won't fit :nenau

Just checked Hepco & Becker site - they do one to fit the X Challenge :beerjug:
