Carrying Documents

I see the biscuit game and raise with my favourite travel friend:

There is a reason why I am fat.
Don't know if they work for bribing foreign coppers. Haven't tried (yet).

It’s easier to carry photocopies of applicable documents than argue with the Euro plod, I believe they can stop you without cause. As others have stated the V5 is only proof you are the keeper not the owner, this will in most cases be unknown to Euro Plod and that’s why it’s easier to carry it.

Your drivers license will be on your phone within a few short years.

Sometimes in life, it’s easier and cleverer to give them what they want.

Obviously not as good as the Eagle Creek pouches, but I love the fact it’s exactly A5. If you’re like me and prefer paper documents when dealing with border nazis - then this is perfect. V5, insurance and MOT certificate fold perfectly in half to fit in. I still print off A4 hotel bookings too. Call me old fashioned 😬
The military livery cuts through a lot of bureaucracy at borders too. 👍👍

This has always been my mantra when travelling. You won’t outsmart anyone if you can’t speak their language ffs! lol 😂

We also print everything out on A4. We’re doing a train trip around France in September. There is an A4 file full of train tickets and hotel booking etc so far. The train tickets are on my phone too but if as seems to be current hobby in that London, some little wrote nicks it. What then? We’ll be carrying on with printed copies of everything for now.

I always keep my passport in a ziplock freezer bag, even in the house 😂

You’ll not need your V5 for that. Phew, what a relief. But hey, someone might break into your house and steal it, when you are away. Bury it out on the glen. Be sure to record the spot carefully.

Better still, take it with you. Lots of good information on the forum as to where to secrete it.

Bookmarked.

The freezer is a great place to keep water bladder things, as used by Camelbak or whatever they are called. Prevents bugs, apparently.

That strategy is great - apart from when you travel to countries where you can’t get the bike across the border without the V5 - and copies won’t suffice…
Which is why I couldn't get through North Macedonia!

So is a wash & flush in a clean bowl of hot soapy water before use, and or a soak in a bowl with a Milton sterilising tablet before use

Space in the freezer :D your having a laugh in our house lol

Working in countries like Russia and Iran you are supposed to carry ID about with you at all times. I don’t like always having my passport with me so I made a good quality photocopy of my passport details page (with photo obviously) and reduced it to credit card size, copy of driving licence on the other side, printed it and laminated it and kept it in my wallet.
That was accepted as official ID on many occasions, including in a bank in the UK.
I know you’re not supposed to do that but, in many countries they are used to ID cards so accept this version.
Just need a decent photocopier that does colour and reduction.

although most phones and a colour printer will do the job now
even if you print on separate sheets, once laminated it does not matter
