just fitted an eliot tacho to my cbr track bike ran rough and would not rev :blast refitted the original clocks and it ran fine:) ,,tried running it with no clocks at all ran rough and would not rev :blast i think this suggests there is something in the clocks which the bike requires to run properly :nenau,,,anyone know what this could be??? and what additional part if necessary i would need to fit.... many thanks for any suggestions :thumb2

Sorry, I`ve only just noticed this and you`re probably sorted now.

It`s very likely that the tacho contains a sensor unit/feedback device that goes to the bike`s rev limiter.

Most Jap bikes drop one coil out of circuit when they reach the preset rev limit,so without the original tacho your bike may well be only having one coil that is functioning.

I`m sure there`s a plug in unit available from the race suppliers.

Another common fault when people make streetfighters is that they remove the 'tilt sensor' fitted to all fuel injected bikes which is intended to kill the fuel pump if the bike falls over...but I doubt it`s fitted inside your tacho,as they`re usually a seperate boxy moulding mounted on the headstock.

a friend of mine has/had a CBR600 that showed similar problems. This one was fitted with the original clocks but would loose power when cold - with this one the speedo cut to zero while it had the problem.

have tried all sorts to fix the problem and not really got anywhere, but I think at one point she swapped the clocks out for another standard set and the problem went away - at least while testing with the replacement clocks.

trouble is she's tried swapping so many things around that I'm not sure what was concluded if anything, but reading your posting and Tarka's it sounds like there might be something in the clocks that effects the running - I'd dismissed it originally as it didnt make sense, but...

anyway, I'd be very interested in hearing if you do sort the problem out as I think there is a carbed CBR600 going cheap at the moment ;)
