Hi

now that i am getting used to the GS handling i am starting to ride a bit more spirited. Whilst riding along a nice but a bit bumpy B road came to a bit of a depression whilst cranked over and was caught off gaurd a bit when the Center stand touch down.

further down the road came to another depression (comp with scrapes on the road) upright and the center stand touched down again. even though i was not hanging around i was not expecting it in a straight line

the rear preload was set at standard with only me onboard but with panniers on but empty ( i am only 12 stone)

Is this the norm for the GS1200

i have jacked the back upto Medium but have not tried the same piece of road

What have most people got the rear shock set at ???

i dont want to jack the back end up to much being vertically challengedish

Adjust the rear to "firm" (that's use the knob at the rear (ooer) and turn it all the way to 'firm') and you should be fairly fine.

I did that and got my missus on pillion and we only touched down the brake pedal, footpeg ends and H&B engine bars... :)

Dial the rear preload to max (hard) setting
It makes all the difference. Standard set up is very "nose up":)

Check your centre stand spring ... if it's a bit weak, the stand will bounce up and down as you go over bumps, which might cause it to scrape even if the rest of the bike has plenty of clearance.

No problems with the centerstand... :D
