That TV size TFT is fugly as hell, does it need to be that big? It's so nice to see a bike with just a speedo and maybe a tacho

Not sure you can get a colour map for navigation with just a speedo
You'll miss a chunk of the scenery with the map in view
. Seriously, that's only really a concern when exploring pastures new, that screens a bit OTT for most everyday journeys. I don't use a nav at all but my GF just uses her iPhone attached to the bars and an earpiece when we are going somewhere we don't already know. She has one of those old penny size BeMoto nav thingies of her Enfield but hasn't actually used it yet

If I’d didn’t have my Vstrom 800 I think I’d be very tempted,especially given that the CF Moto is a grand cheaper and much better equipped.

Thanks SteveWell, Mr Spence is back from his 9000+ miles in 3 months trip on his 1000MT-X and I think he likes it, going by a little vid he did with the dealer that sold him the bike.

Yeah, I bought one, quickly done the first 600 mile service, and then left !
A 9000 mile round trip from N.E Scotland to all the borders of Armenia and back, as well as 12 days in Georgia, including up and over Abano Pass..2up...
Dark Canyon Turkey, 2up.
Mazalat Hut Bulgaria, 2up.
Many dirt roads in Romania, solo but loaded.
So...water crossings ( Abano, snow melt ), lots of rough dirt roads, lots of just plain rough tarmac in Eastern Poland and Ukraine, temperatures up to 39c, crazy traffic ( Yerevan )...and loads more.
Averaging around 60mpg.
Any problems..fuck, yes..
A bastard o-ring on one of the fuel taps decided to leak a spot or two of benzine, so that was replaced FOC at a dealership in Germany by a very competent lady mechanic.
This particular dealership was 50/50, downstairs being all Motorrad, upstairs dedicated to CF-MOTO. That tells you something.

I really can't be arsed with replying to any naysayers, so go elsewhere with all your negativity please.
The 1000 MT-X is an absolute machine, but it wasn't an instant love affair !
Everything didn't smooth out until around 6000 miles, this is when the fuelling and performance really started to shine.
There are issues, heat from the large resonator box at the rear of the engine being the main problem, but, now there are solutions in the form of link pipes available from the likes of Wings, or my new favourite parts supplier...Uncle Wang

A good friend bought an earlier CF Moto about 800cc I think
Straight from PDI, down through Spain
First 600 mile service at a dealer in Spain and then over to Morocco
Rode it down through the deserts to Mali/Mauritania and Senegal and back to UK
Zero problems
can the whopper of a screen be rotated landscape? Does the steering damper not interfere with a tank bag?
The screen is actually quite small, and turning it through 180 degrees helps with buffeting !
I use an Enduristan Sandstorm tank bag with no problems.
that the TFT screen rotation you are talking about? How secure is it from theft? a la GS of old thefts?
Yeah,thanks for that, I only realised that he meant the TFT screen much later !
I'm used to it now, so screens on other bikes look small by comparison.
