Had a day out in the Peaks yesterday and on the way back I noticed the chain was badly stretched and the sprockets were starting to 'hook'. I would normally just tighten it up and run it around locally but I have a 1200 mile trip planned for the end of next week and don't have the confidence in it to last the whole trip. So do I go for genuine BMW at £105 or the Eblag specials at £60??? Any thoughts or other reccomendations appreciated bearing in mind I need to fit them by Wednesday and am planning on keeping the bike for atleast another 5/6000 miles ;) .

Cheers-Tony.

can't comment on bmw items, but i've usually been disappointed in non original sprockets in the past.

i found the eblag sprockets were not very long lasting but the chain was fine .
ive had no problem with the JT sprockets available from motorworks ,or renthall do a kit www.bandcexpress.co.uk

the BMW stuff is fine and the front sprocket is the only one with the rubber dampers fitted . which i think are there to reduce noise

cheeers mike

You can use a X-ring chain 520 pitch 120 link chain that will last longer than the stock chain. BMW don't sell the rubber ring front sprocket anymore. But you can use the X-ring with the BMW sprockets, ot just buy good quality aftermarket steel sprockets.

Do not buy the Renthal aluminium sprockets, they don't last, or any other aluminium sprocket wont last.

Thanks for the replies guys. I rang Pidcock BMW and they had them in stock so seemed a good excuse to get the bike out and go collect them ;) . Looking around at prices the genuine stuff is only about 10% more expensive than aftermarket so really not worth the risk of fitting the unknown.
Thanks again :thumb
Cheers-Tony.
