A small degree of optimism on the part of the speedo is tolerable but when I fitted my KmH speedo for a European trip last year I found it to be wildly optimistic and therefore put the Mph/KmH unit back on. I wanted to fit the KmH unit because for some demented reason the KmH scale on the UK speedo is not illuminated.

Now, I remember from some years back someone writing about changing the speedo drive to increase the accuracy of their speedo. Does anyone know part numbers and drive ratios for (any) different speedo drives which will fit the 1150GS.

Please!

TIA

Not an answer to your question, but I use the speedo function on my zumo Gps, set to KM its a nice big digital speedo, much easier to read day or night :thumb

I agree.

I had intended to use the speed display on the Zumo and therefore didn't pursue correcting the speedo accuracy but although I agree that the Zumo screen with the big speedo is easy to see I find that the speed display on the map screen of the Zumo is a little small. Also I prefer the instant meaning of a pointer to a digital reading.

I fitted the 'R' speedo drive unit when the original one packed in. According to the speed read out on my sat nav my speedo is 2mph out (fast) at 70 and 80.

Sorry for my dimness. Do I order a speedo drive for an R1150 R?

TIA

I got my one off ebay (secondhand), it was advertised as an R1150R speedo drive. I dont know the part number. Certainly no problem fitting it.
