Just a post to say that this year has been my last touring year, as previously planned, and the GS LC TE is being collected by it's new owner tomorrow.
Why last touring year? I'm in my 70's and distances are not the joy they used to be. To get to the really interesting places, France gets in the way and it's a big place, expecially when you are travelling from Plymouth.
My cruise control has helped and I've done the BMW Motorrad Garmisch festival this year and am just back from Corsica.
The GS LC has been a superb choice for this last touring year and has probably saved my neck a number of times without me knowing while hooning through so many passes faster than I had any right to expect. The general feel and seamless control of the semi active suspension has been excellent.
Be assured that the GS LC is a highly accomplished piece of machinery, but you already know this.
Yes, I knew that I would take a big loss on the cost/sell value of the bike but nothing can take those memories on the GS away from me and it has been worth it many times over.
Take care out there.

Farewell with a fair-wind good friend! :beerjug:

However, I do remember going to the last Rolling Stones Concert a few decades ago! ....never say never!

PS. How was Corsica, I'm thinking of riding there myself next season :thumby:

All the best and I hope I can still manage a bike in my 70s :beerjug:

I wish my old man had realised enuf was enuf @ 70 instead he had a stroke last march that's left'd him stuck in a wheelchair and the only thing he can do with his bikes now is look at them !

So i wish you good health sir .

Sounds like you have made the most of your last year touring and couldn't have picked a better bike. Glad you were so pleased with it and have lots of happy memories!

Good luck with what ever you do next and stay safe

ALP I am catching you up fast and each time we ,that is my wife and I ,go on a long summer trip we think it will be the last time. Came back from Tuscany in mid July saying "well that's it we better go by car next time".
Here we are in September and already talking about next year, probably back to Spain and as in the last 5 years or so thinking that will be our last big trip on the bike.
By the way hope you liked Corsica,we went there a couple of years ago and were totally underwhelmed.
We shall keep on as long as we can, after all your a long time pushing up daisies.

Good luck, Alp.:thumb 70 years young on the new GS, and you've gone out on the best bike.:beerjug: Please keep visiting, and joining in all the banter.:rob:thumb

Living in Plymouth why don't you get the 24 hour ferry to Spain and go touring there. I've been 3 time now and there's some great roads. Pyrenees also not too far from Bilbao

Within a week you'll be kicking yourself. There are just too many times and days in a year when you'll be able to use the bike for transport or just for the joy of the open road on 2 wheels.

Makes me sad reading your farewell.
I've been a biker for almost 40 yrs now, and I just can't imagine giving it up.:nenau

And I'm a big believer in the statement below........:thumb

Take care and keep the memories

Thanks for posting your decision for all to read - its great to see the right sort of response from what is a `loose fraternity` where we still stop for each other on the roadside with nothing but genuine help offered.

As already said it doesn`t mean you have to give up the forum - you still have all the attributes of a good person because of your biking days.

I hope you are going to do something just as important with your time like drinking.............:beerjug:

I know that in Corsica you said you would sell the GS when you returned, but I never thought you'd do it. Do you still plan to replace it with something smaller?

Whatever you decide to do, best wishes

Mike
