Chigee AOI lite

Can anyone please confirm if, once your headset is connected to the Chigee, can you still have an intercom with the pillion? I am using a Sena. Asking because my mate bought an earlier one (different make and model) and it will only allow him to connect to the unit and seems to cut out his pillion comms. Help much appreciated.

You don’t (can’t) connect your headset to the Chigee. It stays connected to your phone. If you click on the headset icon in settings on the Chigee it just shows an image telling you to connect your phone to the headset

I have a sena 20s. So I'd have to check. But as far as research shows yes it should as this unit connects just using Bluetooth with android auto so it's not controlling the phone it acts as if you were for example running Spotify on the phone itself. When intercom kicks in the phone sena switches to that Input then back.

So I suppose basically consider that it operates as if you were using your phone in your hand today with your helmet on.

The headset is not connected to the Chigee, it's connected to your phone and your phone is connected to the unit. This is one of its strengths as there are no BT conflicts. I've used mesh to communicate with other riders and once you stop talking music or GPS audio appears back in your speakers as normal, the Chigee has no effect on this.

Thank you very much gentleman, I have ordered one. Chigee actually replied to an email confirming what you have all said, seems like good service.

Could you keep me informed on how you get on please. Few Installation pictures and obviously your choice of trigger live you used thanks.
Kit feels very well made and well presented.

So far….

Have removed everything including the tank. Definitely easier than trying to route things around it.

There’s a good video here

For the switch line; the wire splicer supplied is a bit rubbish so went with this on the blue/red 7.5 fused line.

Then drilled a small hold in the holder to accommodate it

Looks like this once it’s mounted. One point though is that this line is live for a long time after you switch off. About 100 seconds.

Having the tank off allows you easy access to the space above the battery for storing the excess cables

Mounted the head unit and routed the wires like this

For the rear camera it was easier to lift the rack and seat pan. There is actually a cutaway you can thread the cable through too.

Means sticking the camera onto the rear lens, but no where else really works. Plus it’s covered mostly by the rack anyway

For the receiver I put it here

In the end I decided to mount the Front camera under the beak. Does mean it’s hanging upside down, but the 3m adhesive pads are pretty strong, the camera is very lights and it will be connect via the wire of course.

Just got to put the rest of it back together now….

Thats a great set up, and thanks for taking the time to show how you fitted your chigee it's a big help and The fuse wire definitely looks the best option. 👍Going to tackle mine this weekend after I collect bike.

That’s ok, happy to help

Btw that fused line was from Halfords.

Good luck with the new bike!

No need to take rack off just drop the reg holder. Gives plenty of room behind light. 2 screws versus 6 large rack bolts. It's quicker same access.

Does the tyre pressure monitoring system work with the BMW monitors or only the monitors supplied as an extra cost?

Only with their own ones, so I suspect it’s not something many on here would need.

Hi im trying to locate a 7.5 amp fuse with breakout wire, unfortunately I can only find 10 amp. Is this what you used ?

Just use the provided splicer in the kit. The fuse isn't necessary tbh.

It's easy to tap into the red blue cable.

Might I add I've ran mine a few days. To say this thing is really polished would be an understatement. It's like a finished product they've tweaked over years.

The fuse with the spur is from Halfords. I just swapped the 7.5 fuse for that, but as listermint says you can always just join into the red and blue wire.

Righto cheers. Did you find the plug and play for the wizz wheel adapter easy enough?

Word of warning, when you connect the GPS make sure you push it home until you hear it click. I thought it was all the way home and then got no GPS. I had assumed it was just not picking up a satellite in my garage, but a spin around the block told me it wasn’t connected.
Luckily I could get to it by just removing the black side air intake and loosing the front body work.

I got mine through Indigogo too. No problems at all, arrived last week and fitted last Sunday. It looks good up to press. Video and cameras are spot on. I took a live from the sat nav connector. Chigee have been really good with a couple of questions related to the order, respond within 24 hrs, and that was during CNY.

After a good few days with this I’m impressed overall

However is anyone having issues with the Bluetooth bmw remote? I’m finding it’s connected ok, but sometimes it works fine, other times I get zero response from the wheel and indicator switch. Have tried moving it around, even leaving it sticking out from under the rear seat but it’s just as unpredictable.

I’ve raised it with CHIGEE and they asked for a video of it not working. Seems a bit daft, but have done that and am waiting for a reply

No issues with mine, used most days for over a month. Mines plugged into the alarm connection and sits under the pillion seat
