...coloured oil. Remind me again, exactly what is it that causes this, which I really didn't want to see pouring from my gearbox drain hole this afternoon?

Re-filled it with 80-90 diffferential oil. Much quieter now, and hoping it will hold out until after I've got the FJ re-furbished...

Fucked bearings!

Sorry!;)

Ah, but is it shagged bearings, or shagged seals that used to keep the chocolate coloured grease inside the bearings? (That's what I seem to recall reading before...)

Shagged bearings would more then likely means metal flakes on the magnetic drain plug...non of that present.

Might try some thicker oil, then change it every month (~500 miles) until I can get the box sorted, or until it packs up, in which case borrow Linda's X Country...

Now, where can I get some OEP 220? About as thick as Treacle, and stank like Doggie-doos...
