Clocks stolen

And this wouldn't happen in Yarkshire either eh JB......:D

I'm sure it would potentially - However you don't see many bike's on the street up here

We put them in the 'privvy' at night, next to the whippet as guard dog

Somewhere to hang one's flat clap too, on the mirror stem

oh that would be such a good idea

Just leave a few rough edges on you anti theft bracket in just the right place :D it could be an option with or without finger guillotine

Scrap that the owners would be missing fingers after a couple of days cleaning behind the clocks :blast

I had to look too - all between £200-£400 as well

Nice little earner for a few seconds finger work

Must be a way for a dealer to read the history or serial numbers from these clocks and find out the doner bike and stop this getting a more popular way to make a few hundred pounds.

We all know most must be stolen same as all the internal engine parts from eastern Europe on eBay never any engine casings or frames from these nearly new bikes they keep breaking

It's interesting looking at 'other items sold' by ebay sellers: makes you wonder the sources. Proving that items are stolen is difficult, but not if they are still coded. Certainly must be worthwhile for the constabulary to have a look at any sellers, because many will not be skilled re programmers :rob
How can you make a quick easy identification tool, cos that's whats needed: if its not easy for the police, then it won't be done?

Yes clearly, and these clocks should be a gift with their ability to prove themselves as 'stolen'

The clocks must have serial numbers at least and BMW will know what the chassis number the clocks were originally fitted to for recall and warranty work the problem could quicky be stopped if some effort was put in

Or use an ultra violet permanenet pen. Or invest in a Smart Water/DNA kit.

Mine came with Datatag from new. Thought it was included with every new BMW?

Not that it makes any difference anyway as long as fleabay continues to be the "legalised" fencing service it has always been. :rob

You could engrave the reg number into the clocks somewhere. Or use an ultraviolet permanent pen. Or invest in a Smart Water/DNA kit.

Unless the thief can see the markings that will stop him selling it, he will nick it anyway. The chance of the purchaser of the stolen item checking it with an ultraviolet lamp and then calling the police are minimal. All the bikes will have been Datatagged but that didn't stop them from nicking the clocks. I'm not sure if the clocks get dabbed with the stuff. Perhaps they will be from now on.

Perhaps it's like the VW badge thing. Look out for yoofs wearing BMW Clocks on a chain round their neck.

Not sure how much it will help but I have removed my screen and turned the circlip so it needs to be turned 180 deg to be removed and then put a small cable tie over it? It's got to add to the time to nick it!
