Now I have seen the pictures at the back of the clocks looks like the perfect answer they are not easy to get off without the correct pliers and working behind the clocks would be just about impossible

no, i haven't.
take one of the originals off, apparently it's really easy
and take it to a bearing shop or fastener supplier.
Just a thought so open for some abuse or praise.
The three spigots at the back of the clocks where they push into the steel frame is it possible to drill a small hole in each of them, and once the headlight unit is removed for easy access, could you get in to fit three self tappers with large washers ?
This would make the clocks more secure and virtually impossible to blag without destroying the clocks.
Open to opinions on this.

You probably only need to change the visible circlip on the top to have the desired effect
I am going to order a box of circlips and one of E clips of eBay and fit the best option!

Sounds like a brill cheap unobtrusive idea fella, my solution (the security brace) compares very badly IMHO as it costs much more than some circlips off fleabay but it does have the advantage of offering an easily seen visual deterrent before the thieving scum have a go at removing your clocks - so just be aware that they may cause a little damage before the boneheads realise that you have fitted the circlips
Point taken, but I will stick with this method. I am afraid I don't like the look of your bracket, although if I used my bike for work and parked in the same place regularly I would fit one! Please keep coming up with your various accessories you have some good ideas!

Looking at my clocks 1200 TC ADV it would seem a flat plate maybe 75mm wide could run from the screen rails either side and be flush with the bottom of the clocks and this would prevent hands getting behind to do their dirty deed....
Just an idea from a ham fisted fool that would never attempt making such a thing himself

Thats what I was thinking. Ive got my car number etched into all the glass and headlights. Very inexpensive from what I remember.

How about planting a trap GS and then grabbing the scumbag when he comes for the instruments.
