Clocks stolen

How about planting a trap GS and then grabbing the scumbag when he comes for the instruments.

If it was your GS what would be a satisfactory sentence? Pull out his fingernails. Chop off a finger. Chop off his hand.

Place a 1oz lump of lead behind his ear.

Use a gun to do it....

The only way the dealers could tell where a set of clocks come from would be to plug them into another bike ,they could possibly read the chassis number from the eeprom.
If anyone comes across a set of clocks and wants them identified I can do this.

I don't think people are stealing the number plates :P

People think they do. It's why they pixilate their plates in pictures. Bad men trawl banal threads, on the off chance of seeing one to copy.

Fitting a proper circlip is better but you can still pull the clocks out of the rubber bung on the right side, so if some scumbag wants them he would just break the side that is held with circlip if he forced it.
I had a look at drilling each of the spigots that locate in the rubber grommets with the idea of securing with self tappers and a washer but and the only one that could be drilled to accept a self tapper screw is the large one the circlip goes on. So that idea isn't perfect either.

Well the longer it takes them to get the clocks off the bike the more likely they are to get caught? Anything is better than standard!

I saw a red GS parked in St Mary's Axe near the Gherkin this evening and it had the anti theft brace installed.

Will the bike still run without the clocks? It will be annoying if it happens but I would like to think I can still get home or continue a holiday. My Garmin GPS has a digital speedometer to make the bike legal.

Yes, but you won't have a horn which will make it illegal. (I rode mine home ...)

Time to keep one of these in the panniers. There should be room after all...

Well joking aside, (no horn is technically an instant prohibition), that is perfectly legal as a horn on a motorbike. If you stopped at a pushbike shop and bought something like that for a few quid, had a sat nav that gave you speed, arm signals for indicators .. (Ok if they're fitted they're supposed to work ..) ... and then explained that the clocks had just been nicked, you'd probably get away with it ... :thumb

Probably get away with it right up to the point when you decided to say 'have you not got something better to do than stop me like trying to catch the people that nicked my clocks....' :D

Clerk?? Clerk ???? :comfort

Don't get ideas above your station Trixie - the photocopier is empty and they're all gasping for more tea ..... :D

Suspicious! I think when I fit my circlip I will take the instruments out and scratch my reg number on the back! That might make them harder to sell?

Suppose the reg number was etched on the glass That would deter a theft in the first place perhaps:nenau

Circlips now fitted, I managed to get 2 on although the 2nd isn't such a good fit! I got a box of assorted off eBay for about £4 posted hope it will help at least I feel they are safer!
