Clocks stolen

A quick public thanks to Mark Hooton (Cymarc). After getting my clocks nicked during a charity event. Mark has sent me one of his clock guards for pretty much the postage price.

Many thanks Mark ..... :thumb2

The Saga takes a new turn!

I was in Bahnstormer Maidenhead today and some poor fella was pricing up both new clocks and a new headlight unit for his LC.
It seems his clock were pinched a week ago from where he parks his bike in Richmond. The Police told him it was ok to ride his bike, presumably they thought he'd just take it home. He carried on riding it into London without clocks (but with Satnav to monitor his speed) and today his headlight was also stolen

I'm guessing the absence of clocks makes the headlight easier to nick.

The total cost to replace both the clocks, the headlight, the headlight driver unit plus various other bits came to £1800 :eek::eek:

So good folk of the LC brigade, if you haven't already done so, it would seem a very good idea to get one of Mr Hooton's anti theft braces, especially if you have to park in London.

Bloody hell!

I was at Bahnstormer today, picking up my loan bike for the weekend , but was in and out in under 5 minutes, SAS style!:D

Glad to hear you're sorted for the weekend Rich.

........And what you do with your wife is your own business! ;) :D

Still waiting for mine  Arrival date is end of the month - that's two months from when they were nicked .... :rob

Sound like a Johnny Cash fan has taken one or his songs as a way to build his own GS one piece at a time

I think I should think about a headlight guard...............

Guys, here`s an email I got from `Tim` (he was mentioned earlier in the thread):

Subject: R1200GS LC Digital Display Anti Theft Brace Please!

Hi Mark,

After talking to another customer today in the Maidenhead Bahnstormer I was given your details about your anti theft brace.

Unfortunately I was too late to stop them nicking it this time but wish to stop it once the new one arrives, much better than spending £700.

I also wondered if there was any way of making something for the headlight as the little bastards stole that as well, even more expensive £800!!!

Really like the website, and if you have any business cards I would kindly hand them out to the numerous bikes that have vulnerable parts that you make bits for. I park in central London, and want to help stop this happening to others.

Warm regards

Tim

I`m kinda thinking that some sort of brace for the headlight might be a good idea? Seemingly the clock brace has been a great hep to some of us and thats good and I`m pleased. Does anyone have any input so that I can start thinking about something which is designed around the biker i.e. us!

Hi Mark, I passed your details onto Tim as he didn't know about the anti-theft brace. He was a really nice guy and was incredibly calm given he'd just been handed such a big bill! I would have been jumping up and down with rage

Fingers crossed it will stop the thieving scumbags from nicking the replacement parts.

Wrt the headlight, I guess it depends how secure it is normally and on whether it becomes easily removed once they've got the clocks off! Not sure on the answer to that but I'm certain someone on here will know!

That`s what I am hoping for - I tend to think `we` all end up with better products if `we` have an input :bounce1

An Update ....

I spoke with BM today, and clocks will not be available until the end of this month. Bear in mind they were nicked on the first of August !! That's three fucking months !!!!!! :rob

They tell me that they are changing something in the design of the clocks (something to do with anti theft stuff ?? :nenau) and that there are no more 'old' clocks, and the 'new' ones are being built / manufactured as we speak ....

Sheesh ..... :blast

Oh good so that means when I change in march they might be surprised bit more secure!

Crikey that's not good.

2 sets of clocks failed on my 2013 model, the original.and replacement ones. 2 months waiting time for both. Ridiculous.

A shambles!

A bike advertised on the premise that it's capable of taking you around the globe? Totally unacceptable.

The bike can take you round the globe. Just not necessarily with clocks.:aidan
