ok, i can see a time when i might be able to look into the annoying clunk more thoroughly.
friend was round today and we had a look at transmission lash at the rear wheel. little free movement, but turning the wheel soon came up against springy resistance. thing is, it wasn't very springy, and the wheel was quite easy to turn appreciably against it. mate said that was not normal. me having no previous of monos am unsure, but it doesn't seem right.
there would be much more resistance on the rubber cushed para shaft.
what does the panel think?

)....and I've never had any problems with any of the driveshafts on any of my g/s's.
