Something i forgot to mention on the no clutch thread is the curious colour of my clutch fluid. When my clutch hydraulic pressure failed this time i lifted the lid of the resevoir to see what fluid i had (the window showed full) and saw that the tiny amount i had left was a metalic grey colour with small flecks of an aluminium colour in it - pretty though it is, i am sure it should not be like that. Fluid is dot 5.1 and is the usual weak yellow colour when it was flushed through. Any ideas? :nenau

fluid should be DOT4. i know DOT 5 is not to be mixed with DOT 4 and i suspect it's not compatible with the seals in 1150 clutch system.

Fluid is dot 5.1

Dot 5.1 is fully compatible - it's fully sythn, and not silicon.

It's Dot 5 whch is silicon and is not to be used.

Back to the point - the metalic colour doesn't sound rght, but dificult to asses without seeing it.

only managed 30 miles this morning before lost pressure again, rushed the bleed last night and may be paying the price for that. will re do it again today and take a photo of the fluid colour. what is the best way to show that on this site or should i mail it?
