i just noticed today that my clutch fluid reservoir is empty:eek:

Anyone else seen this? I have glanced at it in the past and it was fine.

Obviously, i won't ride it again til i have the level correct. pulling in the clutch feels ok, and i have followed the cable and can see no leaks.

Any ideas??

Patrick.

Fluid

You will find that's OK. Move the Bars to off centre and your fluid will magically return.:thumb

My money is also on it still being full. It does look empty all the time but everything is OK when you go to all the trouble of taking off the cap.

I think it must be a BMW "in joke"

Mine can "just" be seen at the bottom of the reservoir. I queried this at the 600 mile service and was told that this is normal and that as the Clutch Plate wears the level will rise.(Clever BMW Technology to let you know when you need a new Clutch !!). You probably know this, but don,t be tempted to "top up" with DOT 4 as the Clutch Circuit requires Mineral Oil.

This really did my head in one time... all the way from Milau back up to somewhere near Paris...

All the way on the payage, I couldn't see any clutch fluid... panic set in.... made sure I didnt change gear....

Got to hotel, phoned Mon Dial etc etc... spoke to Ocean.... "oh i'm sure its fine sir"

Got up in the morning, checked bike for a bog puddle underneath it... nothing...

looked in the fluid holder... it had miraculously returned...

Was convinced mine was empty but after finally removing the 'child proof' cap it wasn't empty just dark green so it looked like the pot was dry :blast, was told by a local at a bike meet over here the clutch slave cylinders are a common fault, not sure if it was true or he'd been unlucky

If its dark green then it could do with changing sharpish. If you leave it it can allegedly contribute to slave cylinder failure. If its black then its probably already too late.:(
